Also even if Bernie wins he’ll end up being as much of a nothingburger president obama was because the American system is not built for widespread sweeping changes—too many checks and balances, too many vested interests across the board from the left to the right, American population is actually a lot more centrist than social media and the MSM would have you believe, etc. Presidents change but the system stays the same.

No, he can't. The only solution to this fucking mess is to stop federally insuring all student loans and making them forgivable under bankruptcy, so the loan givers would have to weigh risk and reward when granting loans, considering the students high school grades, chosen major, SATs, and deciding on whether or not a student is likely to pay the money back or not. Instead, its a debt slavery system where the ones loaning the money get paid regardless of whether or not the student is economically viable. It doesn't seem to be specified in that post, or by Bernie I presume, but you're taxed on taxable income, not gross income. Taxable income is the dollar amount you're actually taxed on AFTER all deductions have been subtracted. The assumption in that post is that Bernie wants to tax 52% on gross income over $29,000, which is retarded and likely wrong (though it's Bernie, maybe he does want to change to code to do that).

Currently the standard deduction has more than doubled for everyone since the Obama era under the new Trump tax law. Currently as it stands, everybody is allowed a standard deduction of $12,200 if single and $24,400 if married filing jointly. Earning a $15 wage salary would gross you the $31,200, but taking the standard deduction alone brings TAXABLE income down to $19,000. So in order to actually be taxed at the 52% rate, you have to make at least $41,200, assuming you take the standard deduction only. Other tax deductions and credits may bring that amount down even further.

However, this is still retarded. Most people will almost never take any other tax deductions and credits beyond the standard deduction ever, and taxing what is basically the median income amount which would probably accounts for over half the country at over half their fucking income, well that's how heads start rolling. Bernie's playing real fucking dangerous game here.

I'm not AnCap or even Libertarian. But that's beside the point here.

>Only the rich would get a quality education

At current prices yes. But there aren't enough seats in colleges that can be filled by rich kids. Tuition would have to fall in order to fill them all. It's basic econ. You can also spare me with the "quality" argument as well. Take a look at the average college after an increase in funding. Educational quality doesn't change but they sure as shit get pay increases for their staff and they knock down perfectly good buildings and replace them with brand new ones and get new landscaping done.

Colleges shouldn't even need a fucking campus in this day and age. There's no reason for college to cost as much as it does, and I mean that not for just what the student pays, but for what the taxpayers pay and everyone else involved pays in grand total. The faculty rides a gravy train at the expense of their students, and they sell socialism to their students because that's what keeps their gravy train rolling full steam ahead. They're threatened by a free market. A free market means they no longer have a monopoly and can no longer price gouge their students and the taxpayers and no more debt slavery for student loans on economically unviable degrees. These fucking people are the enemy. Why can't you see this? I'm not being facetious.

A lot of burgers don't seem to realize that universal healthcare would actually be a lot cheaper for taxpayers. US health welfare programs have to pay private healthcare prices for treatments and meds which are WAY higher than anywhere else in the world. Meanwhile in countries like the UK the NHS, being one of the largest single buyers on the planet, negotiates far lower prices with pharmaceutical companies.

A person with diabetes shouldn't have a bmi of 45, a person on dialysis shouldnt skip dialysis two times in a row because they are staying home for the sportsball game, and chf shouldn't fuck their body up over holidays and then come in Monday acting like they have no idea why they can't breathe and weigh 10kg more than they did a week ago. I'm upset already because of how much taxes go towards these beyond worthless humans who are a net drain on society. They should be ashamed, not continuing to further burden as already encumbered system.
Something like a three strikes law for noncompliance. Lenient, but also brackets for health conscious and idgaf, maybe one in between. With costs based on these categories.

I saw a report that had one guy, one fucking guy, go to the ER for booze poisoning so much he knew all the staff by name. Averaged a visit a week for years. Of course once social services got him stable and his booze problem fixed up, stopped visiting, hospital stopped spending millions a year on this one guy. That was in mass. When I was in texas it was the dregs of society (illegal illiterate migrants) shitting things up for their common cold.

Theoretically, if Bernie does wipe away student debt, is there any reason this wouldn't work? I haven't read much about the actual process they would use to wipe debt.

It'll likely be like Obango's DREAMER program, that is they'll have a cut off point at which they accept people into the program. Ex: your loan is forgiven if you have a loan before this cut off point (a year before the law comes into effect). Thus you'd need to take one out now if you'd want in and then you'd have to way out the risk of 1. Bernie becoming president and 2 Bernie implementing the legislation. So its a meme just like Bernie.

Isn't there an incentive for private health care to see frequenters return for profits? Surely a system that's aimed to prevent this would have to be bureaucratic rather than profit seeking because if profit seeking and incentives where put on a business there would be incentive for unethical shortcuts. I hope you allow yourself some pride for working in care and I think the cynicism is very understandable.

>>17397488
What do you think would be a fair way to address this problem? More specialized care earlier might even save money?

Generally concerning frequent flyers and such we see the exponential distribution the same way we see normal distri in society, it just happens naturally out of the presence of innumerable factors being at play. I'm very sympathetic with your ire for these who burden everyone else simply because they are incompetent, selfish or hypochondriacs or such. Personally I'd see it as a mental health issue that society could engage in because if we want to keep ethics that's the only practical view. Troubling stuff.

Reagan and the ACLU getting rid of institutions was the perfect storm of a generation spanning fuck up. Some people should be committed regardless of how they feel about it until they get healthy and quite frankly I think some people are unable to function in society and should remain institutionalized.

I agree with more preventive/preemptive interventions, especially for those with drug problems or indicators.

As to the sudecas - every other country in the world deals with immigration better than we do. Send em home. All of em. And start locking up their employers. Ironically, this is the strongest socialist position in terms of benefiting our working class - the berninator used to at least verbally agree but has since gotten on the crazy train of open borders.

It's mind blowing how they don't care about their health. Kind of understandable if it's a you do you thing but these assholes always have children or grandchildren. At that point it starts to seem even more selfish, like wtf are you doing with your life why put them through this.

A lot of them are Medicare/medicaid. If they readmit the cost is on us and we push it back on kids with a green bean in their nose or the guy that shot a nail in his hand. Another thing is people wanting to keep going through painful treatments that at best give the 'loved one' another two or three days at best in suffering and having machines and drugs keep them breathing and heart pumping. I've broken a lot of ribs doing cpr when the patient says full code, but sometimes they can't say if they want everything done, or it's obvious the patient wants to die well buh fucked up families and legal weirdness means we'll code back to back within hours of each other and know damn well they won't be walking out of the hospital. The concept of quality of life is lost on many of these. It's not about the money to me here as much as why put grandpa through all this? I do take pride in my work and when I fix something it feels good, but the wastefulness quickly makes one weary. It's frustrating because there's little clarity and no obvious way to fix the system since it's mostly outside factors manifesting as fucky stuff in the health system. Some people only take three meds but can't say the name, dese, or even what it's for. More often it's seven or ten drugs, and they don't take as prescribed randomly doubling up, or worse. Ignorance is one thing and a huge part of Healthcare is education. No cure for willful ignorance though, some won't even try.
You mention preventative medicine which is great, but hard to keep funded because we're inundated with the readmits. The ones who become this way have little interest in checkups and just run their body into the ground too.

Maybe instead of teaching how the black transwoman really discovered America but were tricked by evil kkkristopher kkkolumbus and teaching a basic health class people would understand better. I was homeschooled so not sure what's in the curriculum but from what the schools put out I don't see how they manage to take up even two hours a day, much less eight or however long it is.

Concerning immigration I think too that an open border policy is bonkers for many and important reasons. I am largely ignorant on the US border situation as I'm not American but as for what I can see it seems very hard to implement any kind of deportation as it would give rise to accusation culture. Anyone who knew where immigrants hide could extort them via threats of informing on them. There would be those Americans who protected immigrants fairly integrated into their local society pitting any federal enforcement against the people. The extortion could then happen with threats of handing over between Americans as to who harbors fugitives and not. It's already a popular ethical question and the polarization that arises from it is already dangerous in itself. I also think that enforcement would ultimately have to face choosing between inability to do their job and using unethical means to carry out their duty.

Speaking of employers I remember a couple years ago a local business that had immigrants working very cheaply for them. The police found out and the owners were locked up for slavery. This was in Finland and the situation is no need to say, completely different here. Just an anecdote.
