I was thinking of about Sergey's comments on shipping and was wondering how he imagines oracles will observe events in commonly given "smart contract usage" examples like a successfully shipped product or a mowed lawn from a device logistics standpoint, because to me only something like weather data can be sufficiently decentralized end to end.
If a package is delivered, and the delivery person marks the package as such after leaving (this recorded event is coming from a centralized source - two delivery services cannot deliver the same package), and then someone steals it, the contract has already executed and the recipient has lost merchandise. This could go on and on into excruciating detail about the condition of the product, whether its the correct one, etc. While it's not practical to expect this kind of information from a shipping API feed, people whose packages get stolen or contain the wrong product are still pissed.
As for mowing a lawn - anything that can measure how tall a lawn is will have to be pretty close to the area itself, opening up itself to easy tampering.
However, weather data can be taken from almost anywhere. In an average sized city it's not practical to search through every area to find a DIY weather station to tamper with (https://projects.raspberrypi.org/en/projects/build-your-own-weather-station).).
Based on these three examples, it seems that anything that requires observing even a remotely local event in a decentralized way would require machine learning capabilities beyond anything that is available or will be available in many years - I imagine shipping with smart contracts to be quite a difficult sell.

So you have to remember that LINK can not fully remove the centralization aspect from some industries. In that, the source of certain data will ALWAYS be centralized. But for those cases, chainlink now eliminates another source of friction and 'pushes' the responsibility for correct data back on the supplier.
