Facebook engineer here, I pulled up Dimitris internal profile and its legit, he's in the Instagram Search team.

A few things very wrong with this thread
>>17269082
Youre so fucking wrong its painful. Every engineer at Facebook/instagram gets equity. I personally got $150k vesting over 4 years as a college grad and I get stock refreshers every year. Going by his experience, he's probably IC5 at Instagram. IC5's make bank, about ~$370k a year in total compensation. Its possible he's even higher than IC5 desu.
Here are some data points if you don't believe me: https://www.levels.fyi/ (just click E5 under the Facebook column adn view the data points).

My guess is that he got paid a ton of LINK while we worked at smartcontract, and was offered an extremely lucrative and liquid offer at insta, so he accepted the cash (plus the amazing 401k match, health care, benefits, free good food and other things we get here for free) and just held onto his link.

>> No.17269205

>>17269098
You obviously have no idea what youre talking about, Fb and insta have a flat engineering structure, he could be an IC7 and his title would still just be "Software Engineer". I have the same title as a new grad and so do tech leads in the company

All of you thinking is fud is retarded.
Dimitri is so much smarter than all of you.
He went to Instagram because as a part of Facebook it is a huge company that will probably never fail.
Why is this important?
COBRA insurance. You can use your old employer's health insurance for 18 months, and in NY state it can be extended to 36 months. However one big caveat is that if your company stops offering health insurance at any point, your COBRA insurance stops.
Facebook/Instagram's benefits are obviously among the best in the world, so it makes sense to make your last job before quitting one that will have good health insurance for the next 3 years.
Facebook/Instagram simply offers better health insurance.

So he is making absolute bank, a shitton more than Sergey paid him.
Software engineering for a startup like Chainlink is a stressful job, Instagram will give him incredible benefits and pay with 1/10 the pressure.

If hr got poached by a large corporation like Instagram than that's a good sign not a bad sign.

He must have been good at his job.

kek, I said this months ago. I need to find the thread. Dimitri hated working for Sergey. Everything is hopium, and none of it will work. Garage boyz certainly wouldn't be the first to bring this kind of service to the world

its simple, chainlink mooned so he has no incentive to continue working there. he gets a cushy job at a big company with all the benefits that a startup wouldn't offer, all the while holding onto a big stack of link.

Dimitri wasnt working for Chainlink only, he had also side gig at Loop &, wasnt fully commited to one company. In general for developer positions typically companies dont like you working a second gig. They preffer you work only for them and just rest when you are not at work. Been there done that.
Now Dimitri is a smart guy and after staying a while with CL he asked for better contract. CL didnt give one as this would likely just happen again in a year or two. CL made good decision in best interest for the company.
Dimitri is a smart guy trying to sell his ass as good as he can and there is nothing wrong with that.
Been there, done that. That is how the dev jobs market works. It is a self regulated ecosysyem.
Been there done exactly that. Fair play by both parties. Foreign worker for Swiss based AG here

If this whole thing isn't completely full of shit, he's probably got millions of Link stashed away somewhere, just waiting for its breakthrough. Now he can have the best of both worlds. If Link never makes it, he's got a whole new promising career.
