Again, timing is everything. Which is more appealing, buying the stock in 2000 at $30 when there wasn't a product or 2020 at $3 when Mercedes has had SPD for years and paid millions to be one of the first OEMs?

Which car manufacturer is going to pony up millions to test an alternative?

Nobody.

Or you can wait till there are profits and then buy the share at $15 when everyone is jumping on it. Early investors are rewarded first.

There are still some engineers at Honda and Toyota who are pretty good. I also think Porsche will do well once they get things up and running on their EV side.

I don't have a position one way or another, just my opinions about if these companies will be able to compete or not. I agree that the US manufacturers do seem pretty hopeless.

Why would there be a wait for 50 years?

20 vehicles with SPD expected in the next 18 months mostly coming in 2020. This includes the 5 MB's, 4 McLarens and 2 Rivians that we know about (the Rivians haven't been confirmed by Research Frontiers, although we suspect for sure). So 9 more, some of which possibly won't make it.

SPD was tested for years by Mercedes at a cost of millions of dollars. So who is gonna pony up millions to test an inferior product that hasn't had years of testing?

Just sit on the sidelines and watch the run up over the next couple quarters.

Just to add to my autistic rant:

There isn't anything that Microsoft does that isn't also being done by another company.
Whether it's programming tools, their OS, cell phones, streaming, consoles, cloud, whatever thing they're doing someone else is also doing and at any time could over take them.
All it really takes is for them to get too greedy and erode their own product with shit that annoys the userbase (like what they're doing with the current iterations of Windows) and their competitors to make significant improvements (like what almost happened with Valve trying to make their own linux gaming box)

Stock volatility is driven by business maturity, liquidity, sector maturity, ownership composition (insider, institution, retail, etc.), macroeconomics (boom or bust), black swan events (e.g. coronavirus uncertainty), macroeconomic black swans (e.g. repo market QE), and so on.

Small stock prices rarely matter much outside of exchange listing requirements. Higher stock prices make it harder for retail investors to buy in unless the exchange offers fractional shares.

Low liquidity (rather than low stock price) will be more predictive of sudden stock swings. Even better though is to look for upcoming catalysts (disruptive product releases, regulatory decisions or even earnings).

I've been using windows since 3.11, and I don't agree: It's been up down sidegrade sidegrade up down down
Win 3.11: Good
Win98: Good but also Bad (constant BSODs but we didn't know better)
WinXP: Amazing paradigm shift with its NT core
Win7: Great
Everything after has been bad
Win10: A weird mix of good (features like built in TV streaming that non-normies have been doing via third party software off github for years) and very very bad (a literal botnet)

It's not that it's going to get abandoned it's that you could have bad news that takes a chunk out of the company, you could have a talent swing where the public perception of microsoft by innovators (young talented programmers) becomes "They're old news, I'm going to go work for [some other company like Google]"

I mean look at a company like Motorola, or even IBM. They used be hot shit, they had it all, they were a major player, now they're just okay

i should really do more research into how to take better advantage of panics like this. all it did was make great stocks like AMD artificially low for a time, giving the stock exactly the kind of pullback it needs before going higher.

call me when AMD winds up with a real fundamental problem with the company and what it's doing, im positioning myself for catalysts. the new consoles coming out at the end of the year (both xbox and playstation 5 using AMD chips) are going to be huge. you should buy AMD for that reason alone, as long as you're willing to hold for at least a year like i am.

Literally any country could do what the US is doing and become the next industrial powerhouse. The CHF could be worthless and German bonds used as toilet paper.
These things are unlikely though. The SP500 will go up over time, the CHF will not become an Africa-tier currency and German bonds will be worth money.

So far there is nothing that could beat windows. Same with Microsofts ever growing cloud and internet services.
If you want anything done with computers or the internet, as a private person or company, you will use MSFT somewhere. And you have used MSFT for the last 30 years, you will still need MSFT in 10 years.
MSFT is safer than most gouvernment bonds.

Okay, so suppose you've got an option with a Delta of 0.35. That means that the price of it moves by 35% of the change in the underlying stock. Since it's a contact on 100 shares, another way of saying this is that it's price moves the same amount as 35 shares of the underlying.

So, if I have an option with that Delta, whatever my 35 shares gain, my option will lose, and vice versa. Not exactly a winning proposition on its own, but the upside is that you can now daytrade those 35 shares without being exposed to the overall secular movement of the underlying.

Or something like that.

TSLA is a pure gamble at this point, it's kinda like AMD but AMD isn't worth a million% more than it should be for no reason whatsoever besides hype. it should go down because of how extremely overvalued it is without the fundamentals to back it up, yet it keeps going up and has these huge spikes up and down, for seemingly no reason whatsoever. i remember reading on monday iirc that shorts lost a combined total of $2.5 billion on that pump, shorts trying to do a reverse catching a falling knife.

if you're right on it, obviously you can make a killing, but it's basically a 3-figure penny stock. i thought the cybertruck fiasco where he broke the windows was going to finally be the top, but then it went like 3x that price, so who the fuck knows man. i wouldn't fuck it even with your dick.

i'll say this at least: don't short TSLA unless something truly catastrophic on the fundamental side happens. until then you should be long, but you have to be willing to withstand potentially 20%+ drops that at some point go +40%+ or something.
