>shit nigger. I'm electrical engineering atm, starting 3rd year in a month and I remember almost nothing from last year. what's this repetition shit?
Imagine being able to remember anything you want no matter what with perfect fidelity. Basically makes memory a choice rather than an ad hoc phenomenon. Also makes studying much more efficient so no more rereading, highlighting or any of that shit. Med school students who have to memorize 10s of thousands of obscure esoteric shit swear by spaced repetition. The idea is when you are exposed to any piece of information there is an exponential decay curve for your probability of being able to recall it. It's found that if you are forced to actively recall the information when you have about a 90% chance of recall, the curve is reset but shallower. Generally every exposure is twice as long as the previous one. So you see something on day one then recall the next day. Then 2 days, then 4, and so on. Once you get to about the 21 day mark the memory is considered permanent. The trick to actively recalling when you have the 90% probability is you don't waste time looking at something before you need to so it makes studying that much more efficient.
Have you ever been just about to forget something but then right at that moment you thought really hard and suddenly remembered then afterwards noticed that thing in particular is now really easy to remember? That's the spacing and active recall effect and Anki hijacks it and makes it intentional.

depends on how bad things get, and if the 'Wuhan lab released the virus' thing is believed by the populace.
If the numbers of infected level off, and the Chinese government keeps things more or less running (most of the population gets food, water, and very basic services) they'll be fine
if starvation and unrest start to kick in, the Chinese government will try to contain it, but things could become completely disorderly very quickly; and in a way that can't just be fixed in a year or two.
If the Chinese government has to put down province-scale revolts, it will be a multi-decade step backwards in their industrialization/modernization

at the end of the day, it's not about belief, it's about "do I have food to eat or not". (That's how it was historically as well.)

I give the Chinese government a "B" grade so far with their handling of things. This is a really, really bad hand they drew, and they're doing what they can. The massive amount of quarantines that they have enacted aren't trivial.

That's precisely it. Spaced harnesses this effect for you and provides the scheduling algorithm. I fell in love with the idea immediately. Take the percentage dip of SPY and multiply it by about 5 taking daily rebalancing into account. That'll get you in the ballpark. I'm thinking if SPY goes to 260 (my worst case estimate), SOXL should get us down to 120. I mean could you imagine? Buying SOXL at 120? Realistically though 160 at the absolute rock bottom but don't count on it. If it does make it I have 100k ready to dump in

>im all in on soxl, tqqq, psldx, and ntsx, what god giveth, god taketh away
Ain't that the truth. When we're riding high like how it's been since October, I usually keep about 1/3 of my account in and 2/3 available for trading then when the dump happens I slowly go in deeper then sell out on the way back up to new highs. My gains graph always has huge peaks right after monster troughs but it's worth the nausea long term.

Some shit goes down bigly = market goes down = all shit goes down.
Now, it also works vice versa. Market goes up = shit in the market goes up. It's that easy.
In case of AAL you can look at the SPY chart and see that SPY (the market) went up a little bit.
You can figure this out better by studying what Beta in CAPM is.

it's pretty much meaningless because I don't know what information he's getting, what sort of orders he's giving behind the scenes, and what kinds of political games he has to play to balance the centralized control vs. provincial action.

He could have quarantined a little sooner... basically if they had taken all the same actions one or two days sooner it would be an "A". But if they did that, and this virus turned out to be less infectious than it is, it would have been a large blow to Xi's power.

Yes, now is the time to buy bit by bit. Think about it. Market dip because of corona virus? Does that really seem viable to business? There are epidemics in China regularly. This one is getting a lot of coverage so that the stocks dip. Now is the time to buy.

Just made $62 on my new account on TD Ameritrade. Dropping Robinhood is the best thing I have ever done.

Robinhood is way too slow and has shit routes when executing orders. Like if you set a Limit Buy at $4 but the Stock drops like a rock to $3 they still sell you the share for 4 dollars each but TDA uses bots to help average down the initial price, so you end up buying it at a much lower cost.

When I turn these $900 to $2k I'm gonna put some money on Webull too because I have heard lots of good things about it, that is supposedly faster than ThinkOrSwim (I doubt it tho).

keeps it in the subconscious of everyone and keeps people from committing such acts in a blatant way (recent history is showing thats changing though, depending on how much you believe on the stories of muslims in china)
the part that gets to me about specifically the holocaust, is that its ONLY that genocide thats focused on, kept in the zeitgeist
no don't investigate this thing, just listen to people talk about it
of course jews got persecuted and killed during world war 2, why is anyone who tries to find a mass grave or look into the death camps to look into modes of killing immediately deemed an anti-semite, rather than someone looking into history?

Surprisingly weathering this storm pretty well today. I am annoyed at Barrick. Again. It didn't go green with the benchmark. Again! That's it for me and using large cap miners as gold plays. Money that would go to large cap miners will now go to a 2x ETF tracking gold benchmark price futures. Will still dabble in small cap miners though. Those pump like they're supposed to.

I lean slightly towards bullish bias on this dip. WuFlu would need to ramp it up somehow to really drive the indexes lower from here. We've had two days of fear selling, I consider that pricing in the outbreak as it currently stands. And there is now a gap that bulls will definitely try to fill in coming days.
