was it crazy? were there threads daily of people talking about how much money they made that day? I can't find many screenshots and the archive pages suck.

>pic unrelated

>> No.16990743

people were talking about their million dollar gains in shitcoins like it was nothing, the thing about the wealth is, you get used to it superfast.

>> No.16990763

2017? Try imagining being able to buy BTC for a dollar. Yes, a dollar. And try imagining selling too soon like the dumbs I was, whilst other made millions for holding on. 2017? Noob shit.

>was it crazy? were there threads daily of people talking about how much money they made that day?

No there were two types of threads by june 2017

1_Oldfags posting sweaty pepes asking how to cash out(because they had made such massive ammount of money)

2_Newfags that took loans and wanted to buy all they could.

Random scam coins like ICX, XVG and VEN were mooning left and right. A literal retard could have gotten rich in that market if they cashed out at the right time. I hadnt really dabbled in any alts at that point so I missed out. I think my BTC/LTC/ETH bags collectively pumped to like $30k from a $4k initial investment. I did not cash out

It was not like it is now. The board was very fast and the threads were practical, like what to buy next, or literally which Bittrex pump to catch in the next 10 minutes, or what coin Tika was shilling that evening (which would 3x in a few hours). RIP

The mania was insane. I would go entire days at work doing nothing but browsing my phone refreshing /biz/. There was an image I saw at the end of December 2017 that I haven't seen since. It was a scale that, on one axis showed varying amounts of initial investment in USD and on the other axis increasing numbers that represented how many times your stack had increased. To see how well you did in the bull you found your initial investment and total x increase. I remember I did a 4x and that was less than most.

Everyone was talking about the upcoming epic 2018 bull run (lmao). The quality of posts was a lot better than now. The memes were better. We weren't getting flooded by BSVjeets so there was more variety. Absolute euphoria at the end of that year. I couldn't sleep at night cuz my blockfolio kept increasing by at least $1,000 every 10 minutes.

It was absolutely insane. I made like $5,000 every 24 hours even as a poor fag with a miserable initial starting value. The euphoria was absolutely overwhelming, browsing this board was funner than sniffing coke off a 10/10 hookers ass. Many who lived through the times went insane not because they lost everything, but because the euphoria was so intense that upon crashing their dopamine never recovered.

>> No.16993383

The euphoria was the cleanest form of dopamine. $7k starting, hit $45k in a number of weeks. you could've thrown money in a coin that was up 10x and still make 2-3x on top. stupidly, i didn't sell any of it. held all the way back down to $6.6k in Jun 2018.

It ruined the board. At peak degeneracy the mindset of these shitheads were 'if no 10x no care', 'this is next 10k buy now', 'partnership with mcdonalds look at twitter photo', 'bitcoin too slow give me good altcoin with 10x'. There were pump and dump schemes left and right. People willingly buying parabolic tops. People here hacking twitter accounts to shill pump and dumps. The best one was when they took McAfee's account and blatantly P&D 20 shitcoins in 24 hours

>> No.16993550

Check dentacoin price from end of 2017.
I bought that shit when it was cheap, around the time when it was going back and forth between being traded with satoshis or eth because the price was so low because of extremely high supply.
sold it before the pump....
anyways, coins that were high in supply tended to fool people that the price was still cheap so a lot of them ran like crazy and people were thinking "why is still so cheap?". max kek!

Scams were claiming to be the next Bitcoin and were able to deceive millions of dollars out of people. People were also stupid enough to buy these scams and then go around telling people they were now investors even though they didn't know much about crypto. Everyone was mmaking money and every coin waas pumping. Then, came the birth of pink wojaks.

What I enjoyed most was the collectivized feeling near the peak in December/Jan, that we really were all gonna make it together. Rise up, become wealthy beyond our wildest dreams investing in this bold new technological paradigm, quit our wagecuck jobs en masse and use our wealth to all realize our fullest potential. It felt like antigravity, like all the weight and woe and worry and regret of my shitty wagecuck life was just melting away and I was starting to feel like a real person with feelings, dreams, and potential again for the first time since I was 12 or something.

At the peak I needed 'just another 3x' to reach fuck you money and retire forever to a modest lifestyle. That seemed perfectly reasonable given the market performance of the past 6 months, so I waited patiently through 2018 while my portfolio crashed 80% or so.

All in LINK now and still waiting for my fuck you money but I fully acknowledge it's going to take years and years of slow adoption and network effects to get there, if it ever happens at all.

I was similar to the person you're responding to. My only mistake was not putting more in, on everything, always.
The difference was that there were simply less coins, so virtually everything was guaranteed to shoot up. It is a different market now.
When I started trading crypto full-time, Coinbase didn't even have Litecoin yet, only ETH and Bitcoin. And those before me remember when it didn't even have ETH. Now it has a shitload of coins and none of it matters anymore. This market has changed.

I don't think 2017 will ever come again, there's just no way that kind of magic can happen twice in one lifetime, let alone to the same asset class. If it does, rest assured we will all fall for it once again. I'm still holding BTC though, and will continue to do so until motherfucking 2030.

part of me wishes I didn't come back, but at the same time I learned a lot about bitcoin during the period in 2018 following euphoria.
