Then it's no longer profitable and people stop mining. People forget that there needs to be buyers that actually want to purchase BTC at these prices. Just because it gets more difficult to mine and thus more scarce by extension, it doesn't mean people will suddenly want to pay more for it.

People have known the max supply is 21 million for years. People have known about the halvening for a while too. I fail to see why it would pump when anyone that's wanted to buy in, would have already, knowing that it would just get harder to accumulate later.
