What the fuck is "talis"? Do you mean "tails" you fucking retard? Because just using tor is not nearly enough to secure your private keys. Simply having them on a network connected machine (even running tor) is extremely dangerous.

there are wallets that don't go corrupt / force you to set up a backup before usage. he's using some random phone wallet, like what. would you store thosuands of dollars worth of gold with 0 precautions? would you just put up with storing it using the first method that's pushed into your face, doing 0 additional research? then there's a good chance you'd lose your gold as well.

yes bitcoin is still not recommended for the plain stupid and/or technically illiterate, without someone helping them.

later this issue will be solved. it has become exponentially more secure and easier to use compared to how it worked in 2010, and will clearly continue to do so.

compare what you had to do to store your coins securely in the early 2010s (laptop with ethernet / wifi card removed and special wallet designed for it), to using a ledger nano bluetooth with your phone, that is just as secure.

>> No.16916021

>>16916004
also there's a 99% probability he just forgot his password like boomers always do.

We don't want boomers who can't remember passwords to be involved in crypto/blockchain. It's better to cut them off now rather than wait for some giant boomer scandal.

>> No.16916121

>>16916085
if you access it with a keyfile sure, depending on what kind of data storage you use and how you use the device that stores the file. if you access it with a hardware wallet? well it can still get corrupted so make a backup seed, but i've never heard of someone's hardware wallet getting corrupted

>> No.16916135

>>16916085
depends how you're using MEW, if you're using a hardware wallet then it's just an interface for example, you can use kyber or even metamask to interface with your hardware wallet instead, also there is nothing to "corrupt" if you just store your seed phrase since feeding them into the key generation algo will reproduce the same keypair you started with unless the seed phrase was generated erroneously, which is of course highly unlikely

>> No.16916153

>>16916085
however, corruption is EXTREMELY unlikely. i would bet 1000 to 1 the reason why this tool can't access his coins isn't because his wallet got corrupted.
