there won't be a doomsday in the sense of anarchy doomsday with food and water being the most valuable things. Merely a financial doomsday with people losing a shit ton of money and jumping off buildings. Prepping for some type of nuclear warfare zombie apocalypse type shit and setting up a bunker with 20+ years of food and water is fucking retarded. And even if something like that did happen, which it wont, gold and silver would still be important, because people recognize that the doomsday wouldnt last forever, so those with an surplus of food guns and ammo would trade supplies for gold and silver, because it would be much more valuable down the line.

I inherited a small family silver stash that's been in the family for three generations, all coinage 1870s to 1930s. Not a huge amount, but it's interesting to think that if they had saved the face value in fiat instead of silver it would only be about $110 bucks. Glad life has been kind enough to my family for so long it never got liquidated out of need or greed. Started stacking current year eagles to add to it, hopefully it will bring a little pleasure to someone 100 years down the line as well.

Hard to tell, fraud is at an all time high and silver and gold have been manipulated since forever because the goyim must not know it's real value. I look at gold and silver like a real savings account that is inflation proof. I feel they keep the price down to purposely make it look like unvaluable junk, when it's exactly the opposite. Banks, FED and gov need to burn before gold and silver are actually considered valuable again. Who knows how long that will take. But I don't give a shit anymore. There's nothing really worth spending money on anymore because quality on everything has shit the bed and will continue to do so. I'll just keep buying and stacking PMs till I die and tell my kids about all of the lies and keep the truth party rolling. Justice has to come sooner or later.

Here's my strategy man, over 50% of your stack should just be gold/silver eagles. You honestly can't have too many of them. Then when it comes to bars, stick to 10oz gov issued like the Canadian silver bars or Brittania bars. Don't do wierd sized bars unless you just want to collect shit. Stick to that strategy until you have 1000oz of silver. Don't forget gold, you'll always be happy you've bought gold. Stay away from 100oz bars until you've surpassed 1000oz IMO. Set a goal to own your weight in silver. This should keep you occupied for a while because it takes time to accumulate. Don't worry about price too much, just don't overspend and make sure you have cash set aside already for emergencies and your bills are paid in advance. If the silver-gold ratio ever closes to 40:1 or better, swap out half your silver for gold. Gold is always the end goal, but thanks to crooks like JP Morgan, the silver price is suppressed and the ratio has gone into insanity levels, so you can take advantage of this.

You can get in short term knowing that they’re gonna pump it but the risk at this point is not worth any gains that may be had. I think at this point they’re trying to get the suckers to buy at the top before they cash out because they know their pensions are on the chopping block soon. I wouldn’t fall for any of the hype. I’m personally avoiding it like the plague and every other thing that’s in a bubble right now. I’m only 27 so I have time on my side. These old fucks don’t and will have to make a move soon with rising tensions.

Cash and metals with some mining stocks. Cant afford real estate ATM cause of boomers so I’ll wait till I can get a good price. Living at home in the garage rent free makes this possible, but my parents aren’t getting any younger and need more help with upkeep of the property. Sucks a little but beats paying rent if you have a good relationship with your parents. Plus they know what I’m doing and are all for it. I told my parents to buy silver back over a decade ago for $13 oz. Found out just the other day my dad bought over 2700 oz, LOL. Should’ve got gold too, oh well...

The thing I love about silver is that's actually more usable than gold. At $20 an oz, you'll be able to buy and sell everyday items with it when the economic collapse happens. Even now I can leave silver coins as tips and give them as gifts to people. Much harder to do with gold.

Gentlemen, I present to you, the BEER STANDARD:

So I was reading Thrift by Samuel Smiles. In it he mentions the wages of different jobs in 1875 England, in pounds and shillings. I was curious how much gold and silver that was. From some quick research, it looks like a shilling contained about 1/6 ozt of pure silver, and a gold sovereign 1 pound coin contained less than 1/4 ozt of pure gold (.2354 ozt if we're being picky).

However, you can't directly compare a job from back then to one today, so I looked to see if there was something I could compare with. Something people want about as much today as they did back then, that hasn't changed much in 145 years, like food, or in this case, beer. Smiles notes that 2 pence would buy you one pint of beer at a pub (and laments that people would be better off putting that money in savings). There were 12 pence to a shilling and 20 shillings to a pound; so in other words:

If you went to a pub in 1875 England and spent:
- 4 sovereigns (.9416 ozt gold), you could buy 480 pints of beer.
- 6 shillings (~1 ozt silver), you could buy 36 pints of beer.

Fast forward to 2020 America. According to pintprice.com, the average price for a pint of beer in the US is $4. However, the British pints used above are 20% larger than US pints, so we will say $4.80 for the same amount of beer. Based off of the current spot price of $1553.40/ozt of gold and $18/ozt of silver, if you were to sell off an ounce of each and spend the money at the bar:
- 1 ozt gold will buy you 324 pints of beer
- 1 ozt silver will buy you 4 (!!!) pints of beer (rounded up)

Even with advances in technology reducing the cost to produce PMs compared to 145 years ago, equal or greater advances in beer production means that your PMs should be able to buy at least as much beer now as in 1875, if not more. Yet, in the case of silver, it only buys you 1/9th as much!

pretty good info and well-structured post...you could probably do a similar calc for things like meat, eggs, or bread. a loaf of bread in CA, for example, is around $1-$5, five being the highest quality bread. let's just say it's $3 for average quality bread.

now, $3 doesn't sound like a whole lot of money in terms of fiat cash, but when you translate it to silver, it's kind of a lot.

spot silver = approx $18, with premium let's say $20/oz. let's say you live in a state or country with no tax, so $3/20 = 0.15 oz of silver. does that sound like a smart trade, to give up almost 20% of 1 oz of silver for a fucking loaf of bread, that has no nutrient value? i mean, i get buying meat or eggs, because it gives you energy, but a loaf of bread or a pint of beer sounds like a huge waste of cash once you translate into the opportunity cost of "damn i could've added this $4 to me silver-buying order".

imagine spending $100 weekly on groceries, but instead of buying useless shit you get a little thirfty and only buy the bare necessities that will give you nutrients and energy. let's say that cuts it down to $60 per week. now you've got $40 per week to get an extra 2 oz. of silver.

let's say you have a gf, or you're dating. you take her out on the weekends, dinner, dancing, drinks, that's approx $100 per week on dates. that's 5 oz. silver down the drain.

keep in mind buying bread or beer is a waste because those two things can be made at home for much cheaper. i wouldn't skimp on meat, though, because it's a lot harder to raise farm animals, or to hunt. just getting into hunting will cost you a few $100 dollars due to the gear, gun, license needed. so buying meat to basically stay alive makes sense. buying unnecessary, non-nutritious shit like bread and beer doesn't really make sense if you're a frugal silverstacker. just something to think about. i'm not anti-drinking but i do feel massive regret about the actual $1000's in cash i've blown on drinking/dating when i could've been gradually accumulating PMs.

>gold is rising in value
>silver is dropping in value
and?

I don't know why these "chads" think they can call a bottom in silver. No one uses a silver standard, it's just an industrial material these days. As mining gets more efficient, it becomes less valuable.

Yes yes, JPM traders were fucking with the value, but you can never be sure of what their game was, the time scale they were shooting for, or if their gamble would pay off.

hedging with some gold makes sense though.

Now what the FUCK is going on with Palladium?
Did we discover a new use for this shit, or suddenly lose a major source?
