How many people on /biz/ actually own at least one (1) entire Ethereum node?

probably no one because it's too difficult to maintain
most ETHies run a node that doesn't even have all the transactions but they still call it a full node
then they changed the name of full nodes to something else and basically only exchanges have enough resources to run one
even coinbase outsourced their ethereum node to a 3rd party and the oldest exchange in the uk decided to de list ethereum because the full node was too difficult to maintain

Ethereum as a service is a thing from what I can see, u was looking into running one as well. It requires a non trivial level of sysadmin experience to setup correctly and it's not something to out can run on some super low end vm the cloud, it has considerable resource requirements for cpu/ram/storage that turn into real $$$$ on a monthly basis.

used to have 7+ nodes worth of ETH. Been scaling out into FRM the past few months though. Join me for the run, 1000x not impossible.

I own an build on ETH and also own ALGO. People are sleeping on this platform, super easy for devs.

I'm just repeating what I've heard
the idea that if ETH does go to PoS it'll be a disaster because nobody runs their own node
what do you think will happen when the biggest service providers want to change the consensus
on ETH you won't be able to reject it
so it boils down to corporations controlling the consensus and whatever rules they want to apply to the network

>> No.16842678

back when all these companies were shilling segwit2x it came with the understanding that your coins in their service would be on that chain
it wasn't clear how forks would be dealt with back then and it was the reason why I sold all my GBTC (they were a DCG owned business)
So I didn't have a guarantee I would have bitcoin after the fork

on ethereum there's a trend of pushing the project further and faster without considering backwards compatibility
when exchanges and service providers have the majority of staking nodes they will continue this trend and favor their contracts in the system

I would like to thank Bitmex and Bitfinex and all their bobos for shorting ETH, thanks to them i finally have enough for a master node.
