California is on the coast. Lots of immigrants, legal and illegal, come to California.
I assume a lot of American citizens migrate to California too because it's shilled by rich lefties. There is also opportunity to make a lot of money (in the right field) since the it's so population dense.
So yeah, tons of fucking people moving there have propped up the housing market. It's probably in a bubble. You have to pay a million dollars for shitty ass homes in some areas, and the wages have not kept pace with the rise of cost of living.
