Of the remaining, half won’t have the necessary qualifications etc. by the time we’ve picked out the non joke applications that are completely finished the way we ask, there’s like 30 candidates out of that 1700.

A job like "data scientist" is only going to show up because companies have to list jobs publically as a formality, but have a candidate they recruited from a college already, or someone they cherry picked from another company, or from a headhunter that isn't going to talk to you.
These websites just bot up all the "we have to advertise this job because the Fed says so" so they can sell you a fake "premium" account.

if you don't have any actual work experience, just go sign up for every staffing agency in the area you want to work in. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE hire anything below manager from a temp agency these days, it cuts down on HR costs, they don't have to pay employee taxes or health benefits, and if you don't work out, they don't even have to fire you, they send you back to the agency.

And that's different from most companies, how? Look, stupid, it's a game. The ones that can play it better make more money, because that's how you keep score. Very, very, very few people are in jobs because of actual talent or skills. My job is not hard, because I've been doing what I do a while now, and in my department, the only key person is my boss. He knows his shit, and keeps it all running. I know my shit, so he leaves me alone, and as long as I hit targets, he has NO fucks to give what I'm doing. I can show up an hour late, and he doesn't even notice. Most of "the team" are MBA babies he has to hire, and most don't have a single clue what to do, so they have endless meetings to avoid doing real work, and know that me and my boss and a few others will get the actual work done. And we have salaries that reflect that. And, none of them will be replaced by pajeets, ever, because we're not SQL monkeys or IT drones.
I always laugh when you fuckers act like you know what corporate culture is like, and that's why they'll never interview you - you're clueless, you'd cause more problems than solutions, people would have to babysit you, and you can't do the work. I could teach you half of my job in an afternoon, but you'll never get a shot, because you're an autist or a neckbeard or a poo.
There's nothing wrong with trades. But a lot them do just as much skating as foremen as managers do, making bank sitting on their asses while wagemonkeys do the actual work. But you won't get hired on their crews, either, because you're you. You don't get it, at any level.

Most jobs are like this. The only place it's different is state jobs. I know some people from college who went that route - great benefits, impossible to get fired, but everyone from the bosses down are incompetent, don't care, and don't do anything. If you want a job to space out in during the day, and draw a paycheck, to fund whatever you're doing outside of work, go work in a state office. But you'll have to fight through crowds of pajeets and 3rd world savages, because they're all trying to get on the tax payer tit too.

Or, you live in the suburbs, and commute in, like most people who work in NYC. There was a study done, with charts, that showed how NYC is practically deserted at night, because most people live outside of the city. Or SF, where a 4k 1 bedroom apartment in the city will all the bums shitting on the street you could want, but a 30 minute commute by BART takes you to the east bay, where a house for rent is half that, and it's clean, safe, and not a 3rd world shithole and insane asylum.
MOST people commute. And a lot of the jobs offered in big cities simply don't exist in Iowa.
