I know we've had a few threads on this topic already, but is it just me or is this city shit EVEN if you are relatively wealthy/successful and can afford to live in Zone 1?

Just moved out from the UK and lived the better part of last year in Mayfair (just by Regent Street), had a pretty good job that paid me far too much money for far too little work, and due to a circumstance of birth had access to various venues (gentlemen's clubs etc.) and events (balls, charity dinners etc.) that non-Londoners think of when they visualise the stereotypical high-class London lifestyle.

For an outsider one would assume that this is the definition of la dolce vita, but despite all of these extras I still think this city is so fucking overrated and I reckon 70% of everyone you meet are utter cunts (both bongs and foreigners) and it literally doesn't matter if they are rich or poor. Two-thirds of London are pretty much high-functioning coke addicts (this is not an exaggeration) and I feel like the weekend excursions that most people do (read: booze and drugs) is just a way of coping with the fact that the city is so soulless and depressing.

Anyone who isn't on a high-disposable income lives for their shitty fucking office jobs in the City commuting from Zone 34 on that godforsaken tube, and I swear I've seen at least a dozen zombie ghouls walking the streets there in the evenings after work judging by their eyes. Completely dead inside. I don't even want to think about the sad lives the poor bastards who work at Pret live.

The worst part of all this is that I know this wasn't the London of yesteryear. Many of the older gentlemen I've met have all told me that London was very, very, very different 20-30 years ago, but lately with the exception of certain smaller enclaves like St. James everything has been cheapened to the lowest common dominator and any resemblence of class has completely vanished.

London has truly fallen, what a damn shame. Anyone else with similar experiences?

A typical self hating, humble bragging London wanker, I'm afraid you didn't escape it's influence, you've become one of them.

I know it sounds like I'm humblebragging but it really wasn't my intention, just wanted to offer a perspective on how shit this city is that doesn't consist of poorfag complaints about rent, and that even if you make it in London it doesn't get any better.

Everything's fucked. It might be worthwhile to relocate to a tax haven for a few years to maximize the next wave of gains and organize a favorable corp structure to house them. 2020 is going to be unstable as fuck worldwide. US has elections so we'll probably have so many gay glowing ops going off you won't be able to see straight. On top of that VA is currently inching towards the big boog. Where do you think the first citadels are going to crop up in the future?

How ungentlemanly of yours Roger.
I'll discuss your refusal to being properly obsequious plus this ignominious fuss upon our scheduled meeting at Diogenes.

I used to be one of these people that worked in various coffee shops in London (because that's what you do after you finish an arts degree), roaming from place to place and commuting from zones 3 to 4 into zone 1 every god damn day.

It's certainly an exhausting city to be in. The commute chews up tons of your time and then you end up paying about 40 to 60% of your wage just be pay rent (for a single room of course, in a house shared with friends if your lucky, with randoms otherwise)

I used to serve coffee near Canary Wharf and it was funny how the bankers and accountants would come down to me and would always apologetically tell me how they hate their jobs and that they wish that they could sit outside like me lol.

This happened damn near every day, they would always say how their jobs arent as cool as they seem, and I hardly ever prompted them to do this, all I asked was "what do you do" or how "how is your day" like a good barista

I'm making them 3.50 lattes and earning like 8 pound an hour. Good times

I am not sure what I should have done to make it in that city, I work in sales now, but i left london years ago, i like it but thinking about going back just tired me out

NZ is pretty stable and surprisingly based. The cities obviously have some pretty liberal idiots but the majority of the country is populated by farmers & absolute racist nationalists.

Tax system is simple to navigate & zero capital gains so perfect for crypto autists.
