16633104 No.16633104 [Reply] [Original]

Anyone else feel like they were blessed growing up poor? I get buyers remorse so bad that I literally don't buy anything. My only real expenses besides rent and utilities are food, gas, and my gym membership. Even then all of those are cheap as fuck. I still wear my gym clothes that I had as a teen. I have a feeling that I'm going to be a millionaire or at least have a fat savings account yet I'll still gonna live like a poorfag. And you know what? I think I'll be happy with that.

I unironically don't. I prefer to go in nature and shit, that's free and it helps me to clear my mind. If I had a choice between a road trip to a national park or a videogame system for the same price I'd choose the road trip.

Nope.
I grew up with literally everything I wanted (not rich but well off) , now that I wageslave I also spend only on necessities. Since I was a child I would get an intense pain inside my chest and psychological discomfort whenever I wanted to spend money, that's why I've been saving and investing for ever. Looks like it's in my DNA.

I've been very very retarded with every other area of my life (health, hobbies, relationships etc) but never with money.

What's the point of road trip to a national park? Just seeing land and animals? Sounds boring.

I probably have Jew dna too. I remember I would literally vomit if I purchased something over $300. This started at a very young age too. I'd always get a little upset when I got expensive gifts from my wealthier extended family. My mom and cousin both have a big nose so there's probably some Jew dna in there.

Based, just based. I feel the same way, I earn more than any of my friends yet I spend the least out of all of them. It was like this since I was a little kid, always being thrifty and shit.

I was lower middle class/ middle class and I'm the same. I almost never buy frivolities and usually fine with just my computer and phone. Normies used to be shocked, like I would save money even as a kid.

I'm very careful with how I spend my money. I care about more the utility of the products/services I buy rather than being a slave to specific brands and being fashionable. I don't give a fuck if there are people who I think I'm stingy. It's not like they care about me. Why should I give a fuck about their opinions?

Based mindset, I have family members who are apple slaves. They'll always buy the newest iPhone/airpods just because they're Apple products.

Living on my own I've wasted a lot of money on random stuff I don't need (camwhores and dumb products)
But I've decided to be more frugal with my spending now
I'm thinking of moving to Alberta and buying an apartment or trailer, looks like they have a lot cheaper housing than where I am (Vancouver)

I’m extremely frugal personally. I spend practically no money on regular expenditures like tickets or on the go food or drinks. No subscriptions no nothing. Yet I tremendously enjoy keeping up with hardware developments and improvements, I’m also a big fan of the integration of Apple products. I’ve had a hand me down iPhone 4 and I bought a second hand 7 for 300 bucks which I’m currently using together with a 200 bucks budget iPad 2017.

I’ll most certainly buy a iPhone 13 pro around 2021 as the general improvements have been great and my work will pay half and I won’t pay taxes. I’ll be sitting on 100k savings and the 400 bucks I’ll have to add on to the 13 pro will be the biggest smartphone expenditure I’ve ever had.

I very much understand people liking Apple and it’s objectively great hardware paired with a great integrated platform. It has a price but I’ll happily use it for ~5 years.

I've been using an HTC One M8 for probably 5 years now... It still works, it's not made of glass, I've dropped it countless times. I've replaced parts when they break... It's my first smart phone and maybe my last.

It's a mixed bag because I don't spend much but I also failed to cultivate interests and skills.
No car, no traveling, no restaurants, living in a tiny room, and all of it stuck with me. My lifestyle kind of sucks and I probably wouldn't be able to put much money to good use.

I feel the same way. I might have more savings right now than most people of my generation will gather in a decade or more. But what is the purpose even? The money literally has 0 influence on my life and it’s not like I’m massively enjoying myself. I’m intending to cut down to 3 or 4 working days a week in a few years. It’ll probably be more quality time compared to only shooting for early retirement when I’m far past my prime at 50

Yup. I even own a house, but I basically spend all my time either on the couch online after work or in bed. I could've done that in a 1-bedroom studio apartment, but I just bought a house because I liked the quiet that much.
I don't have that much money besides the house, but I still have more and am saving faster than my senior engineers that make $25-35k/yr more than me even after the house. One of the staff engineers just dropped how much he had because he's getting divorced after 12 years employed at ~$180k+/yr. Him and the wife are splitting their house, 4 cars...and $45k. That's it. They don't even have that much nicer shit than me. I have no idea how the hell they manage to make all that extra money evaporate.
