This, kind of. The IRS won't send armed agents unless they're arresting you, and you'll know they're coming because you'll have gotten many attempts to contact you by mail, and/or have blown off summons to a court.
The IRS, for most anything that is routine, will follow a procedure. Most of the time, they'll send a form letter asking you to confirm your address. I forget the form letter number, but you can look it up. Then they'll send you a letter, via registered mail, requesting action/documents. That's when shit is inches from the fan. A file has been started on you, you're now their bitch.
