Long term buy case is something like half their sales come from snacks, Frito-Lay. People love snacking, and they make really tasty addictive foods like the flaming hot Cheetos, lays, etc.
There’s also support to be a millennial thing for snacking but that generational stuff seems like bullshit to me.

I didn’t even know I need a long term buy case for some of these... do I need one for KO and MCD?

It’s KO but diversified into snacks and Gatorade. Also, I think Pepsi cafe will be good for them, should roll out a trial of it in the US in April.

I posted this in the last thread but here it goes again cuz I care about you guys. To all AMRN fags feeling like shit right now, feeling lile you've been had, feeling like the goyest of the goys. I have a solution for you and it doesn't even involve a rope. Why are you anons wasting opportunity on outsize risk when the comfy, safety, and fat gains are all in SOXL? Face it, semiconductors are crack in all but name. The desire for newer, faster, more is insatiable. Computers, GPUs, self-driving electric cars, AI enhanced smartphones, medical devices, microcontrollers, networking gear, machine learning, surveillance, infrastructure, it's endless. It doesn't matter how many there are, how fast they are, or how efficient, the demand is for more, bigger, better, faster. What delights the most on Christmas day? A semiconducter blinken the lights.
So what is SOXL? The triple levered ETF with first class tickets at the only game in town to the tune of 42x returns over the last 7 years and 420x returns over the next decades. Do it now.

You take what the market gives you and believe the minute you presume to impress your own beliefs on the charts everything will be taken away. So don't look at it like "can I make x percent a month". Instead come up with some ideas you think have an edge (predictive value) and positive expectancy then test those ideas. Backtest if you must but always be forward testing cuz backtesting is fool's gold. Do all this for a while and see how it goes. You'll figure out soon enough if you have what it takes.

I know flat-out dividends stocks are tempting but if you don't have a lot of money then growth is more for you. Apple alone for example has grown almost 100% in a single year, sure we started this year from a big retracement in the market but you can easily get more than 20% a year from simply investing in growth. There are good div growth companies aswell, like KO which has 3% div and is currently up 17% this year.
So.. invest smart. But if you ask me, if you don't have a lot of money then growth stocks is more for you rather than trying to compound wealth from div stocks over the next couple of years.

That's why you should buy an etf. Because you and everyone else has no fucking clue what they're doing. So buy an etf like $spy which is a collection of stocks from the market weighted based on their market cap. If the s&p goes up, you go up by about the same amount. If it goes down so do you. Just don't try to day trade and keep adding money and you'll win long term. Don't panic sell when the inevitable recession comes. Just keep buying.

>Is backtesting just going back and looking at how well a strategy would have done before? And forward testing would be just observing how it goes in real-time?
Yeah see the problem with backtesting is it can't account for things like slippage where you go to buy or sell something and you don't get the exact price you wanted or you can't get a complete fill cuz there aren't enough buyers or sellers at some price to fill your entire order. This kind of stuff can be the difference between a strategy that looks great on paper but is actually a loser in real life. Forward testing is typically done with some kind of sim account where you are paper trading. The cons of this are you aren't getting the real emotionality of trading. You're not really experiencing the fear and greed that often trips inexperienced traders up and there's still the problem of paper trading not accounting for slippage. It can help to at least see if an idea has any hope of profitability at all. So come up with something, maybe backtest it if you have the time then paper trade it for a bit. If everything looks good, put some money down and go in for real to see how it goes.

When the market corrected roughly 20% in late 2018, do you know how many that said "I will buy when the markets are down" that bought in? Pretty much none, because they are too afraid to buy at the top and too afraid to buy during a correction because they think the world is ending when it happens. It also doesn't account for randomness.
Given a chart you can almost always define a strategy which would have worked. You can't assume that the chart behaviour carries over into the future so that the same strategy will work later too. You're not working out the causalities but only hunting after correlations. That's why you need basic assumptions about the stock market. Some call it market structure, market psychology....if those assumptions are correct enough then it's only a question of implementation which is not that hard anymore.

Don't even ask the question. The answer is yes, it's priced in. Think Amazon will beat the next earnings? That's already been priced in. You work at the drive thru for Mickey D's and found out that the burgers are made of human meat? Priced in. You think insiders don't already know that? The market is an all powerful, all encompassing being that knows the very inner workings of your subconscious before you were even born. Your very existence was priced in decades ago when the market was valuing Standard Oil's expected future earnings based on population growth that would lead to your birth, what age you would get a car, how many times you would drive your car every week, how many times you take the bus/train, etc. Anything you can think of has already been priced in, even the things you aren't thinking of. You have no original thoughts. Your consciousness is just an illusion, a product of the omniscent market. Free will is a myth. The market sees all, knows all and will be there from the beginning of time until the end of the universe (the market has already priced in the heat death of the universe). So please, before you make a post on wsb asking whether AAPL has priced in earpods 11 sales or whatever, know that it has already been priced in and don't ask such a dumb fucking question again.
