yeah there's definitely nothing wrong with increasing the price of life saving medication to ridiculous levels for absolutely no reason other than muh profit. libertarianism is so cool.

>> No.16568271

But the price of insulin isn't changing.

The new types of special-snowflake, custom-made, convenient-for-your-fat-ass insulin are. And they're high because developing something that won't kill you requires probably millennia of collective studying, training, research, and development.

This. Walmart insulin is $25 a vial. It works great but you have to tightly regiment your meals while on it to avoid hypoglycemia which 90% of the fat fucks who are on it are by definition unable to do.

The scientists who did the actual hard work went out of their way to ensure that greedy faggots couldn't monopolise their discovery to gouge consumers
>The patent would not be used for any other purpose than to prevent the taking out of a patent by other persons. When the details of the method of preparation are published anyone would be free to prepare the extract, but no one could secure a profitable monopoly.
But here we are 100 years later and stupid fucks like you are BEGGING to be subjugated. The mind boggles.

Right, that took care of one basic patent angle in our drug development pipeline.

Tell you what? From here, I'll gather a few hundred biochemist PhDs and arrange a few thousand people on the chemical production side.

You can get 50,000 genetically identical mice, delivered on demand. Give or take an order of magnitude. After that we'll need a few thousand pigs or convicts in China or whatever.

Oh and arrange for 10,000 people to give us $1,000,000 each.

Alternatively just 100 people giving $100,000,000 each or 10,000,000 giving $1,000 each could work. They can also invest that money in Netflix or Coke stock or whatever, so you probably want to calculate and present some ROI calculations.

Also you could also structure it as a charity - then we don't need to charge anything for the final product. But that's probably a lot harder to arrange.

Regulatory capture? Man I'm just trying to keep us out of prison when we skip a trial, our insulin-in-a-pill gives 1 out of 1,000 people a fatal heart attack, and we're charged with corporate manslaughter or some shit.

Hey guys, me and a buddy are putting together a drug development company. It's kind of hard getting all the investors and telling them their investment's more a 95% donation when some Indian generics maker steals any chance at earning money back in the market.

Do you think formalizing some kind of government-sanctioned claim to our new research might help?

I guess that's also a "no". Any idea how we can recoup our costs or succeed going the charity angle? Apparently our scientists and chemical suppliers don't want to work for free and all the billionaires I call say "I gave enough to charity this year".
