What happens when trucking is automated, when 3.5 million working Americans lose their jobs? This must have a serious fucking impact. How will these people find other jobs? Is it okay for company owners to horde the money they'll be saving while 3.5 million families suffer?

What happens when tractors replace farm workers? One tractor can do the work of 200 men! Over 90% of the population works in agriculture! Surely this is the end of days... we can't allow farmers to hoard wealth, the government should make tractors illegal so people don't lose their jobs.

>t. Actual logistics engineer.

If people actually realized that it's the brokerage that siphons off 80% of the revenue in this business and that they are as reckless as high leverage wall street brokers, we will see the industry absolutely implode as it did on 2008.

I'm already starting to see large declines in line haul volumes nationally. Some of which for even volume planners that have been in the industry for decades have not seen.

Trucking industry is going to absolutely be fucked. Large exodus of individual carriers into larger 3PL's and private fleet. What most people don't realize is that it's not going to be the trucking side that absorbs this, it will undoubtedly be extended to the cost on the customer.

When trucking gets automated all of those would-be truckers will be forced to get college degrees instead. College degree inflation will become even worse than it is now. Fun.

Trucking is an incredibly vulnerable industry. Many small/medium sized trucking companies are over leveraging their brokerage to pay for their overly aggressive expansion with larger docks/warehouses. Once this "Boom" stops, which is largely starting to show with the sudden slowdown over the last month or so. That profitability that carriers are funding their business with in the brokerage will no longer be able to pay for the stupid levels of expansion they are financing.

If you're literally fucking stupid, basically the one thing that's financing these companies is stupidly fucking huge amounts of debt, which is being financed by brokerage that once the industry shows any sign of weakness will implode. How do you pay for massive over leveraged corporate debt with your main income stream neutered? You don't. Then this failure bankrupts the company, and the bank gets fucked for being retarded and taking on this loan.

Is this a problem specific to the US trucking industry or is this an international issue?

I remember on the news a few weeks ago it was announced one of our largest and oldest trucking companies, Eddie Stobart was on the verge of collapse.
They were saved shortly after by a private equity company or something extending them a loan that'll keep the lights on until Q1 next year. But at some absurdly high interest rate.

Half of those are foreigners that shouldn't be here on gray area travel visas or Canadian "citizenship". The whites and white-ish normally came from another trade or have some previous skills (welding/fab/oil rig/warehouse/etcetc). You'd be surprised how many dudes I know that quit office wagecucking for this, or got some meme degree and chose driving over Starbucks.

Not that it will ever happen while women and niggers are allowed to drive cars, but the only people that will actually be fucked are old ass boomers that shouldn't be physically allowed to drive/should've retired 20 years ago.

The sandniggers and mexicans already scam welfare and will revert to that full time. The whites will just take back your redditnigger "job". Only one group suffers in this senarrio; the people that spend their days dreaming of finally getting to lord over those mean truckers that cut off my prius covered in goy wars stickers.

Of course this is all a teslaqueer daydream because in reality smart contracts are going to no lube your dumbass makework diversity position of pretending to work on spreadsheets all week, while doing 30 minutes of easily automateable excel imputs.

What gets phased in first? The million dollar semi (x4 million trucks), and billions of required new infrastructure to support it...or a blockchain AI/ML neural net that can replace any job where a human uses a computer all day, not including the 50-80% of dead weight that can be replaced tomorrow with basic trustless execution business agreements.
