I've heard that successful people don't waste their time playing video games. Is this really true? Because I've seen famous cryptotraders on Twitter playing between trades.

Successful people do what they need to do and dont adhere to meaningless blanket statements like this. Success isn't about depriving yourself of pleasure or enjoying your free time it's about not letting these short-term shallow pleasures get in the way of your goals or take up too much of your time

Stop talking to boomers. Most people game or have some other time-consuming hobby, and most people aren't successful. That doesn't mean one prevents the other.

It is true to an extent. People who play games (or engage whatever entertainment) all day aren't productive. They might have a passive income stream, but usually it's their only income stream, it's not secure, and they assume they've "made it" and have no further need to work. They have set a limit on their productivity using various excuses but don't acknowledge that they're being lazy.

>> No.16552831

Depends on the game. MMO, MOBA and Battleground-style games? Yes, waste of time. Basically just something to do while you talk shit with your friends. Story-rich single player games? Not a waste. Like reading a good book.

Been playing Disco Elysium lately, feels good man.

When I trade there isn't really enough to constitute what I'd call a proper income? Like I work my ass off (2 hours per day) to realise $40 on 9k stake, I accept that 9k isn't 90k and thus $400 a day would be liveable, but I've only 9k and as such ... I'm just telling you as it is. I'm happy to be up that $40 and some days? Like I've been up $70 sometimes, but I've been down $50 other days. I'm just being realistic.

Also besides dota being the best fucking game to ever grace the face of this god forsaken planet, let me shill you these two extremely based /biz/ games again:

Capitalism Lab's, pictured to the left. This game is amazing, you are the CEO of a corporation set in a sim city like simulation. Your goal is simply to collect as much money as possible. Possible methods of enrichment include raw resource wholesale, Factory capitalist producer, large scale retail, any combination of the above to specialize in hundreds of products supply chain, research and development, real estate, media, software or internet services, local government, and of course equity trading. This is a game they use to teach MBA's at Princeton. If you like supply chains, business valuation, product development, or any of the billion things that go into making a business this game is fun as fuck. My personal favorite strategy is the "Pump and Dump", you have your parent create a subsidiary, and then create a second subsidiary for the first one. You give all your cash to the first subsidary, then you take out a loan on all that cash and do a capital injection into the second company. Then you IPO both of them, the first company will be valued very highly because of the startup capital and loan, the second one will be valued extremely small because capital injections don't count towards valuation. You buy up all the equity of the second company and merge gaining all their capital, then you sell all your shares in the first subsidiary letting the PC eat the losses on the bank loan default. Ta-da you now have a little more then doubled your money.

The second game is wallstreet raider. If you've ever dreamed of financing and trading your way from a fledgling internet services company into a trillion dollar insurance corporation this game can't be beat. This game is so in depth it is hard to explain, and I'm out of typing space, but basically you buy credit default swaps until you crash the economy. Fun
