The way I see it, if you use 10k a day buying 100-200 of whatever stock that is ready to climb, if you make 10 cent gain for each one that can equal from 100-200 dollars a day, which is a living wage. In the short term it’s very bullish. This means there can FINALLY be some certainty.

CapEx in GB is nonexistent because there’s so much damn uncertainty. Who’s going to invest in their business when there’s no clarity on if/when GB would break off their largest trading alliance? It’s fucking stupid, you wait until you know better.

Want to go to professional school or buy a home or start a business? Well let’s just wait and see what happens first... this type of thing has absolutely fuckered the UK economy for years now, and it will take decades to fully shake out.

It'll dip after the stock moves up on the news due to profit taking but long term your still looking at more upside. Buyout or go it alone, either way your still looking at more Profit. A buyout would see you get at least 45 per. Go it alone, same thing just take longer to get there.

Or the third option; go it alone for a bit followed by the buyout. This would see you get the max Profit available. This is kinda what I think will happen just going by the CEO comments and whatnot. But who knows? Depends really on how bad Big Pharma wants AMRN. Example: Lipotor went at it alone for a year after FDA approval before getting bought for $90 a share.

Personally, I don't really believe in sell limits on your moonshots. When the news hits, watch your stock. Once it's stabilized at the higher level, you sell. Sell limits are for the day to day investments where you're setting the hard numbers of, like, cut at 10 sell at 20

The answer is yes, you will not sell at the top. Trying to sell at the top is a fool's errand, it's pure luck. Don't bother trying, just sell when it's stabilized and stop looking at it. Regret isn't useful, and as long as you got the range of returns you want you should be happy. This is why I don't like sell limits on them, either it doesn't hit them, in which case you just keep waiting for the moon, or it hits them and keeps going, in which case it's impossible to ignore that your limit was wrong.

Sounds like we are in the same boat, anon. 36 years old and trying to catch up. Been trying for years. Almost had it earlier this year with a massive crypto profit, even sold the bitcoin top like a total chad at 13,888. My goal was 25k profit to pull and seed into long term investments. I hit it that day, except I was all in bitcoin and eth with the $5k eth in the dydx defi platform in a leveraged 4x long. Market topped out, sold my bitcoin fine on coinbase, but that gay ass platform required market orders, and the eth network was completely bogged down, transactions costing like $10. Needless to say, I got fucked on the drop, liquidated my position so I was back to 20k profit.

Got emotional, said fuck it let's try this bitmex thing, and 3 months later that's all she wrote. Profit and initial investment...poof.

All the planning and work to turn 3k to 28k from the bottom in 2018 to the top in june gone. I knew it was a big fake bear market rally enough to sell the top, yet thought I could outsmart it long enuff to get my 5k back. Couldnt have been more wrong.

So, back to PredictIt, stocks, and options. Slowly digging my way out. Also hoping AMRN will play out, but i am currently out of most of my position. Also betting on AMZN rocketing to 1900 if this fucking trade deal can get verified.

Can confirm. Talked to my dad for the first time in a couple months. He is back in stocks and his old ways. 110% to the hilt margin trading his entire stack on a single stock, usually short. Never zooms out past 5 day charts, no clue how to read one really. He's been doing this for over 20 years, since he lost his first $3 million in the 2000 crash.

Anyway, he did well with GE prior to earnings. As usual, leverages his account to the point that he's receiving margin calls for days. Day after earnings is his last day to shit or get off the pot. Success, he banks $10k. But sells right at $10 like a retard instead of letting it ride. Remember, he never zooms out.

Proceeds to do nothing but short ROKU and SHAK for the last two months. Why those two specifically? No idea, but he fancies himself a pro daytrader. Always uses market orders, no stops, no scaling, and every dime of margin. Yeah, sounds like a Chadtrader except it is Chad strategy with Virgin results. He makes another $30k shorting ROKU on earnings. Closes. Great. Waits one day for the rally. Decides to short again in the high 120s. Like a real pro he will walk off and take a phone call for 2 hours. Comes back, down $5k, but refuses to "Take a loss" so he waits 3 days. Stock goes to $150. He takes a $20k loss.

Now he's bottom shorting SHAK on the first break of the recent lows. He gets on the phone for 2 hours. Meanwhile, SHAK bounces. He's fucked again.

When he isn't losing $20k on ROKU or the classic time he lost $300k on shorting PLUG in 2014 when it ran up like 300% in a single day, he is holding the shittiest no name speculative stocks with endless dilution for 3-5 years, only to sell days before the stock finally rockets. Like all boomers, he throws his hands in the air and refuses to learn simple concepts like covered calls to mitigate losses/reduce cost basis. The one time he finally decided to buy some options, he dropped $50k on Facebook puts on earnings. My dad is an idiot.

He is the boomer that holds FAZ for months to lose 75% because the next crash is right around the corner, can't comprehend the decay factor, and says I don't understand the prospectus.

He is the boomer that took a company early retirement buyout and thinks he can beat the market as a pro trader. He trades after the news hits CNBC and loves to catch falling knives. I mean, how could weed stocks fall any further?

He is the boomer that I finally convinced to diversify his IRA in 2014 (after the PLUG fiasco), so he spends about $2 million buying AAPL, MSFT, GOOG, FB, AMZN, NFLX, INTC, XOM, SBUX, and a handful of other good ones. He holds for a week or two. One of them had a great earnings, NFLX i think... I ask him how he fared. Oh, he sold everything and went all in on Zinga because that one time he made 100% on it so it is bound to happen again. He bounces around on a bunch of crap until he settles on holding FRO for 2 or 3 years into the abyss. By 2016, that $2 million was maybe $250,000. 2017 he finds HMNY. Invests everything. Calls me and shills it hard. I question its survivability and business model. He calls daily shilling it to me for weeks. It's been going up constantly. He was legitimately very early to this one. I finally relent and say fuck it, buy $2k worth.

Jan 2018, I say I'm out, stock is looking shitty, I don't trust management or the business. He laughs. March 2018, he is talking about suing because the stock is now down 99% I say take your remaining $3k and go fuck a whore or something. He refuses. Holds to zero.

And his retarded stock market gambling is why I will have no inheritance. I already told him I'm not paying for shit when he's senile. He will be a ward of the state. Meanwhile, he bitches that millennials are lazy and broke because they don't know how to save.

Turns it into $100k or 200k, which is really impressive, I admit. I always tell him to go do something useful or enjoyable. Take a trip back to the old country and see the family. Start a business. Pay my student loans. Donate to charity. Buy VTI in your IRA.

Then he loses everything and swears off the stock market, while blaming me because of that one time I said IRBT was a buy and it wasn't. Seriously, the guy reaches back to 2014 to throw that in my face, but pays no heed to the fact that I repeatedly shilled bitcoin to his ass in 2015 as he laughed and scoffed. Gifted him $25 BTC that Christmas. He finally wised up and bought the top in 2017...for Litecoin of course, because it was a better investment. Also snagged up tens of thousands of XRP at 25 cents and rode it all the way to the top and back down again.

He finally broke even in the spring by DCAing his LTC stack and buying BAT I shilled at 10 cents. June comes, I'm dumping my bags, he holds. July comes he decides to sell while profitable. At this point I'm feeling 6k BTC is incoming this year. By August I'm sure of it. I tell him to stay the fuck out and enjoy his money. He's been PRO DAY TRADING that whole time. Successfully, too. Then he buys the exact last time BTC hit 11k and refuses to sell. Why? Because trading is stressful. He wants to become Warren Buffet of crypto or something now. Ok, your loss. Now he's back to holding bags and FAST ELITE PRO TRADING stocks. God he's such a fucking idiot boomer.

He is like the Mr. Magoo of stock trading. He somehow manages to make some amazingly profitable trades, complete with grand plans to use that money for something useful, only to get the itch for "just one more." And every time that last one blows his ass out, or causes a cascading string of horrible trades.

He has, at my urging, pulled some $50-150k wads out 2 or 3 times and paid off home and auto loans, or the home equity loans he receives to get the seed capital for the next conquest. So, that's likely where he's got his most recent stack, because I know he's still holding his $11k bitcoin stack. A few years back he had a great year, made a fat stack, paid all his loans off, and then goes and loses everything to HMNY before filing his taxes and never set aside the cash to pay them because he didn't think he'd owe 50k. Somehow he had finally run out of losses to carry forward after like 17 years of carrying losses. He then got another home equity loan to pay his taxes. Fucking hilarious, really.

In fact, he may be the ultimate hyperboomer because he is a foreign national that moved here at 17 to escape the Islamic Revolution in Iran (thanks to his dad's hard work to get his ass here). He had his college completely covered, only to fuck off and fail out, but thanks to the booming 80s economy he got a good job with FedEx as an overpaid IT faggot that knows nothing about IT. Stayed with them for 28 years. Insists it is all his doing. All his hard work. He had soooo many disadvantages in life, unlike me, born with everything. He's the perfect American immigrant in a sense--he adapted to our culture and prefers shitty fast food burgers, chicken wings, and bbq to anything else. Loves football and celebrates everything American. Except for his accent and slightly darker skin tone, you'd never tell the difference between him and Tyler Preston or Brad Michaels.

I have traded stocks, futures, crypto, and options for years and I never use a stop loss. The only time I ever did I got BTFO'd out of a position overnight for it to just immediately go right back up to where I started resulting in an instant irreversible 20% loss. Never again and I have not regretted it once. Matter of fact I'd say I am much more profitable for not using stop losses. If you are going to manage risk, manage risk by having an actual articulable edge. A fucking stop loss is not edge but a quick way to lose your stack by superior and more financed operators

There's different ways people trade and some people prefer using a stop loss for obvious reasons. From my experience, people that never uses stop losses tend to get too emotional if they have a bad trade (because the loss is greater) which leads to them getting fucked in the ass because they go on to make emotional trades. Just as an example. There's a streamer on twitch called TargetHitRick, he trades without a stop loss and has been a trader for years before he launched his twitch channel.. and he has wiped his account clean as far as I know 4 times already. Then there's a channel called cryptotraderstv, they use and actively teach people about risk management which includes conservative stop losses and they have roughly x15 their account since they launched their channel.
I'm not saying not using a stop loss is bad, but it's up to the trader. I've been using stop loss since I started and have without a doubt avoided getting my account wiped a few times.

TLT. It's a bond ETF that throws off a tiny dividend each month. I made my big money building dividend portfolios and an element that people overlook is the psychological boost of forfeiting dividend magnitude for dividend frequency. It feels a little like oxygen being shipped to you each month to cover any fluctuations that are taking place because of chance or your not so great decisions. Doesn't have to be TLT, that's just an example that satisfies your question and expands on it.

Most investing and trading books are trash and are useful only for getting a general outline of what trading instruments are available, e.g., stocks, ETFs, index futures, options, commodities, bonds like treasuries, forex, *cough* crypto *cough*, and get a general idea of some of the ways people trade them. The fundamental idea is simple. Just buy low and sell high or vice versa sell high and buy low. Everything else is details. You may find you have a knack for scalping or you're good at swing trading or day trading or long-term investing. You might find one single stock that you trade for the next 30 years to multi-millions or you might trade 1000 different stocks with a scanner. You don't know until you get in and try some stuff.
I'd suggest reading Reminiscence of a Stock Operator by author Edwin Lefèvre to get an idea of the mindset required for trading. Success starts and ends there. Believe that.
