Probably as a teenager.
The part I didn't understand then was that it's fucking hard to transcend your surroundings. If it was easier, one of your immediate role models or family members would have already done it and shown you how it can be done.
It's not that everyone is stupid (they are), it's that you're not as smart as you think.

I will literally never ever work a low-pay shit job like McDonald's or Walmart. I will actually let myself starve to death begging on the streets before I work there.

true, but that kind of talk on here is instantly misinterpreted as a, usually antisemitic, hand-wave of personal agency and responsibility.
I agree though: networking effects persist, connections early in life matter, and most importantly if you want to be financially successful or attain high status outside of what Weber called 'charismatic authority' then you need some kind of safety net that allows you to fail and recover. If your parents couldn't even afford to send you to a good college, how the fuck are they suppose to bail you out when your first startup fails for reasons beyond your control?

Nigga you get capital to fund your startup. Or bootstrap it, read The Lean Startup. Everyone in this thread has probably read 0 books about business/finance but are ready to share their retarded opinion.

I was like 9 years old, that being said I'm not a bitter commie who hates the 1% for being more successful than me. If you're lucky enough to be born in a rich, white country and you're not making a six figure salary by the time you're 30 you're unironically a stupid peasant who deserves to be poor. People from third-world shitholes would literally kill to have all the opportunities in life that you've squandered.

I've read like a half dozen biographies of Steve Jobs. Ray Dalio's Principles. the 4 hour work week. several different summaries of that inane 'one big thing' book. I've read George Soros's the Alchemy of Finance. I've read a half-dozen marketing books. I've pretty much done the entire course reccomended by thePublic Relations Society of America. Taleb Antifragile.

WHERE'S MY STARTUP CAPITAL, BITCH!
If it's so easy will you sink 50k into my idea for equity?

Why on earth would you attain so much knowledge about business and finance without bothering to actually get any qualifications to back it up? Surely you could breeze through the coursework to become a licensed accountant, financial advisor or stock-broker.

Mainly because it never occurred to me, but mainly because I don't want to work in finance or business - I see money as a means to an end.
But this is not time for me to blog post, I just wanted to call out that guy's naive view that you can start a business like you can pick mangoes off a tree.
