Ebay / Amazon thread.
Does anyone here make a living selling online?
ive been selling used items on eBay for about a year, it makes alright money, but after all the shipping and fees its a pretty petty existence..
Does anyone have long-term experience?
Not asking for your niches.
What's your opionions on used vs new goods, Amazon vs eBay etc.
Also is there any antique/vintage/collectibles dealers on biz?
I only have a high school diploma and I'm high iq, I feel like entrpreneurship is my only hope.

I sell vintage and contemporary collectibles on ebay. Have been steadily building my inventory for about 4 years. I have a little over 1000 items listed at ~ $70,000 in inventory. I don't make enough to do it full time but its nice to have the extra money coming in. My worst month in the last year has been ~$500 in sales and the best month was ~$3300. You can't get rich quick so don't look at it that way.

honest question, how do you get your items for cheaper than you sell them? that seems like the hardest part

It was tough at first but after about a year I've found a few different reliable sourcing methods both online and in person. Think outside the box

Another option is selling on Safex. If you get in early you can create and curate your own title market and gain a yield from all sales made in your own area.

I make approx. £40k p/a from an ebay side hustle.

There isn't any meaningful advice I can give without talking about niches since your niche is your business. I make this money by dominating my niche.

I don't want to shit on your endeavours but if you don't have a niche and you are asking /biz/ for advice you aren't going to make much money.

Changed IPs but that was me you were replying to. It's actually pretty good I spend probably 2-3 hours a week on it between sourcing listing and shipping. Sometimes more sometimes less depending on what else I have going on. It's a long term game though and I set monthly goals for how much I'm listing. The sales come in waves - sometimes I'll go a week without selling anything and then sell 4-5 items the next day.

I'm really trying to figure out how you get your stuff cheaper to sell? I know you don't want to give it away so some biz guy doesn't move in and do it but can you give an example...maybe with a different product or something

Like I said in OP, I have no degree or "skills" though I'm smart..

not falling for the student loan debt.. Its all in a bubble, you see graduates always notching about not being able to find a job.

And I prefer to be my own boss instead of some kike boss yelling at me

I mostly deal with pre owned goods, so literally anywhere.
Ex - buy a ps4 on offer up and then sell it for more..
I bought a Lenovo ThinkPad from a guy for 50$ had 16gb ram and SSD, I took out 8gb ram and ssd for personal use, and then sold the laptop for 200ish

I don't have a specific niche, because I'm a jack of all trades, I've sold many random things I came across.
But I'm trying to learn about antiques and fine jewelry etc .

May I ask how many items you have listed/ how many / how often you list a day etc?
Any 3rd party software which lets you post faster?

I just started selling on ebay about a month ago. What advise do you have for a really small time seller. I'm wondering if I should get a scale and shipping label printer. I live close to the post office but the line can get really long.
