Oldfag here.

Advice for newfags who are excited about throwing their money away at cryptocurrency investments.

There is nothing wrong with "investing" a couple thousands or a couple hundreds but keep this in mind, you are not buying value, you are gambling in hopes that someone else will come along to buy your coins at a higher price.

When you are "investing" it means you are buying something and you hope that someone will eventually buy it from you for a bigger price.

With crypto the only reason why someone would buy it from you is if they think the price will go higher than it already is, nobody wants to hold, they want to sell it for higher.

Do not listen to people who are claiming to have tens of thousands of dollars that could be invested in real estate (yes, you can buy a house with down payment + bank loan and sell it even relatively quick, pay the loan, and double or triple your initial investment).

If you have enough money, you do not need to gamble them in cryptocurrency, there are real assets that you are guaranteed to not lose money on such as real estate. If you have 6 figures you can even buy a profitable cheap business that you will not only be able to sell for more your initial investment, but that also generates passive income.

Take this advice as you want. I've seen countless of people in 2015-2016 here who lost everything to crypto. Don't be stupid and make money, or be stupid and lose it all. That's the secret to making money. Don't be as stupid as the stupid people.

You will never make it working. You need a scalable source of income.

Let's say you get paid $10/hr. Maybe you get paid $30/hr, maybe you even get paid $100/hr. At the end of the day you can't grow. Sure you'll be living comfortably with maybe 1000$ a day from $100/hr, but you can not earn more than that.

The difference between people who "made it" and people who haven't is people who made it can scale their income, they can grow their source of income or can create a new one without having to trade time for it.

Just like Warren Buffet said, time is your greatest asset, if you trade it for a fixed amount of income, you deserve to be poor.

>>16275436
>are you worth 7 digits
Not far from it. I will be next year, which is a great achievement I'd say, taking into account I grew up in a single parent household, my dad (who raised me) was a failed hustler, he worked construction most of his life and tried a ton of small businesses on the side, he always told me that if I want to be successful I need to go to college and get a high paying job, now I get to rub it in his face at least.

As for why am I not doing something "interesting". I hate traveling and even more I hate spending money if I'm not making money. Right now I'm just watching some documentary and wanted to see how /biz/ is doing since I grew up illegally lurking /b/ ever since I was 13. /Biz/ became my main board where I learned how to save money and how to detect scams, making money I learnt from talking to businessmen in real life, this board has definitely not helped me "make it", it just sparked the interest in money for me. But it's changed a lot, back in 2016 nobody wanted to hear about bitcoin.

Imagine some millionaire who shares your lifestyle compared to someone entitled prick who believes 10k a month is survival money.

I learned that from some really weird but very smart man. He has to be worth 8 digits at least but drives a car worth less than $1000 and sometimes wears clothes he bought 20 years ago that have holes in them.

This is something I don't get. Being worth 8 digits and still wear clothes with holes. So what't the point of having 8 digits in your bank account if you can live of $1.5mil ($2000 a month for 60 years).
I'm not into showing off, I wouldn't spend $100 for a designer t-shirt if I can buy the same material t-shirt for $15 but I would not wear a t-shirt with a hole in it. Feels wrong even for me when I don't care what others think and say.

Let's say you're looking around for a house to buy. You see a house priced at $100k but you think the house is worth $115k. You go to the bank, make a $20k down payment and borrow the other $80k. Sell the house for $115k, that's almost double your initial $20k investment. Real estate just depends on how lucky you are, you can often double your money if the bank is willing to borrow you, but if you buy the house with all the cash down, you're not going to get much more than 20%.

My point was that even if your funds are low, if you're knowledgeable on the price of houses in your area or similar areas, you can make a quick buck even with low funds thanks to bank loans.

I miss the old /biz/ stock advice, salary negotiations, resume advice, vanguard portfolios and career advice.

This crypto garbage seriously has to stop. People are getting hurt. Not only that but literally 99.99% of this shit is a scam and a huge bubble waiting to burst. Just look at the recent bitcoin crash down to 9000 case in point.

I'm currently in uni finishing up my studies to become an accountant. I want to know ways to make it in the corporate world. I want to have meaningful conversations like how to negotiate salary raises with your bosses.

I know this might come to a shock to alot of you guys but someone has to say it. Cryptocurrency is just a massive speculation with absolutely 0 fucking value to this world.you can not right now name one single crypto that brings real value to this world and helps improve it.

This is a speculators game. And who ever is the first to sell off will win. You guys are in a fucking ticking time bomb waiting to explode and you don't even realize it.

Besides women want men with stable careers and goals. Not a bunch of Internet funny money degenerate gamblers. Good luck starting a family with any woman and telling her you traded Internet meme coins. Seriously guys wake the fuck up.

If any of you had any sense at all you would sell 100% of your cryptos and invest in Amazon / real estate. Something that will never go away and always rise in value.

I hope we can go back to the old ways of biz. I want to know some good stocks I can expect to put my yearly bonuses into. Not this crypto trash vaporware scam garbage.

To add to the discussion, allow me to state some facts about crypto:

1- they got next to none practical use. Besides purchasing illegal goods on the internet, you can't buy anything useful with bitcoin (food, pay bills, buy a car, a house)
2-Coin holders are the biggest hypocrits. They say fiat and the banking systems are garbage, yet they closely follow BTC/USD value because deep down, they couldnt give half a fuck about cryptocurrencies. Their only motivations is to sell their useless bag to a greater fool.
3- BTC at 20k was a once in a lifetime event. It reached that amount because aunts, taxi drivers and normies fomo'd in. That was the first time they heard about crypto and they thought perhaps it could reach 30k, 50k, 100k. But it didn't. It barely touchex 20k and then it COLLAPSED.
If BTC ever gets close 20k again, say in 5 years, same thing will happen. People will dump their bags hard because they won't wanna wait another 10 years to have the opportunity to sell at 20k
4-this board is garbage

Doesn't matter what 2019 is in that context. People who traded crypto back then didn't know china will spike the prices up in 2017~2018.

Just like you can't know if the prices will get pumped in 3 years or dumped. If you bought BTC today and it went up 30% then down 10%, then up again and then just plummeted 60%, you wouldn't be thinking "im sure some super power will pump the prices in 2 years from now", you'd be selling to not lose all your money and then start binge drinking. A very useful tip that I got when I was still in high school is that when you deal with the business owner of a small shop, the price is never final and always negotiable. Saved thousands of dollars when I was 16.

I would go to friends and tell them one on one "hey im going to the pizza shop, need anything?" from 10 people, I easily got a total of $100 order from which I could easily get $20 discount. Ez money

I think in most housing markets you will find this not to be the case.
You're imagining buying a house for a certain price, then re-selling the house for tens of thousands more a couple months later? What if no one is willing to buy the house for the higher price (they weren't willing to buy the house for that price when you bought it, in the first hypothetical sale)?
You need to be in a very hot housing market and get a little luck if you want to try and work a strategy like this. The much more likely case is that you will not be able to re-sell the house for enough of a premium to cancel out the fees (closing fees, inspection costs, etc.) and the few months of interest payments/taxes/insurance.

Buying value is the surest and fastest way to make money. Especially if you do it with leverage and other peoples money.

For example, syndicating real estate with a good promote structure. For example, you put in 10% of the money, but get 20% of the gains once your investment goes above 15% IRR, and 30% of the gains above a 20% IRR.

You can raise millions, buy undervalued properties, and collect more than your fair share of the gains. Rinse and repeat. 3-5 good apartment complexes or hotels and you're retired.
