Around 2011 I tried to start mining bitcoin after seeing it advertised on the silk road, but I was pretty young and had to stop when my parents got pissy about a $10 more expensive electric bill.
I then tried to buy some in 2012 with about a thousand dollars I had saved up since I was too young to work. Due to that previous interaction my parents got pissed I was still trying to buy some "shitty internet money", so I was unable to get a way to purchase it until a few years later when I started working on my own and had a bank account that didn't require management by them, but at that point I couldn't justify spending like $600+ per bitcoin because I only initially found it interesting as a kid because of its use on the silk road and other websites.
I'm pretty young, so I'm hopeful other opportunities will come up that I'll be able to hop onto. I generally stay away from things on here people tell me to invest in unless I see it actually filling some niche, though.
