Investing is fun when you have a cashflow that you can invest in. I would say focus on building up a cashflow. This was a useful blog for me:

https://lifemathmoney.com/income-streams/

The issue with small capital is that even a 100% return is just 1000$.

>For a while, Munger would give the explicit advice: “The first $100,000 is a b*tch, but you gotta do it.” And then he would go on to say (my paraphrase from memory): “I don’t care what you have to do—if it means walking everywhere and not eating anything that wasn’t purchased with a coupon, find a way to get your hands on $100,000. After that, you can ease off the gas a little bit.”

You can be either a seller of a Call/Put Option Contract or you can be the buyer of a Call/Put Option Contract.

If you buy a Call, then you are buying the rights to "Call away" shares of stock from another investor's portfolio at an agreed upon price (the strike price).

If you buy a Put, then you are buying the rights to "Put your shares up for sale" at the agreed upon price.

The Contracts trade on Premiums. Premiums are shown as the price paid for one share of stock. There are 100 shares of stock in an Options Contract because one contract controls one round lot. Multiply the Premium times 100 to get the current contract value.

Buyers of Calls are hoping for the underlying asset to move above the strike price so they can call away shares at a discount and sell them for instant profit in the market.

Buyers of Puts are concerned that their underlying shares might be subjected to serious downwards price action, so they buy the Put contract as insurance.

Jews and the Illuminati sell Calls and Puts against their current portfolio holdings to receive the Premium payments as income for their portfolio, and they hope your contracts expire worthless so they can keep your money you paid them. If you're of the nasal persuasion and have 100 shares, then you can sell Calls and Puts too.

In any case, always remember that no matter what you do, niggers will never into stonks.

I've been seeing this article floating around that you really need to save about 100k to start investing for real.

I want to know if I should focus on saving up that much and paying down the debt fast for next the few years, or just go ahead and keeping investing what I can for now and gradually paying off the debt.

This is bad advice because the retirement accounts do nothing for you until you're retired. Sure play it safe, who cares? But you could be putting that money into even spy and getting a decent return that is liquid if some other opportunity comes up. Or learn to trade in the mean time while growing your portfolio in a still somewhat safe way. Then you buy the investment property when you can and start rolling it in.

But yes, pay the debt first. I agree with that.

TA is intended to give you an idea of the direction and notify you when direction may be changing/has already changed. Selecting the type of option(s) you want, where the strike is, how far out expiry is from current date and so on is a whole other ballgame. I don't trade options for profit, only occasionally for hedging against common share positions, so I can't help out on how all the option specific strategy works.

I've been trading since 2015 and is still trading almost daily, people like Graham doesn't like shorters because it creates volatility and volatility is not something investors like him want. But that's what traders want, for obvious reasons. You can trade within your retirement account. By that I mean, you can shift from one fund to another. You can be in SPY (or something very similar) and then shift to a money market fund when you think it's high, or into REITs, or whatever you want. You just can't take the money out and spend it, which is probably for the best most of the time.

have they made the roomba any smarter?
that shits been out for like 10 years, I feel like it should be flying around and talking to me by now. It's still just a retard big hockey puck thing.
I just checked their website.. they now have a second robot that will follow the first one and mop up after it vacuums. If they were amazon or google they would have a single robot that obliterates all messes with laser beams.
how can I have confidence in that company if they aren't innovating at a breakneck speed? I'm sure that companies like the FAAG stocks will make better robots. And, they will make robots so much better, they won't sell them to the puiblic

so i was bored and decided to relearn coding for the 100th time and i figured, hell, why not try modelling some option prices?

Turns out, on almost anything reasonable (spy, amd, etc) with enough volume, buying an atm call a month away will give you about 200% gains or so on expiry about half the time. Neato. Screenshot is AMD $32 calls on Nov 22nd, terminal is
>price the option should be at, i.e. 1.88 vs the actual 1.92
>average price of all options that didn't expire worthless
>%gainz
>the number of options that didn't expire worthless
I guess if you had excellent risk management at cutting/identifying losing calls right away, you'd basically become a millionaire pretty quick. I haven't done the calculation, but im pretty sure holding to expiry always is negative ev by kelly critereon since you lose all premium on a worthless expiry.

Also of interest, pretty much all options atm are overpriced for what they should be, usually by just about a few dollars. Possible heuristic for the superiority of writing atm calls?

perhaps, it uses the implied volatility of the option for the estimate. actual vol is usually lower than implied so i guess you'd want to shave off a few basis points to get somewhere more accurate. Also, i made a silly error in calc'ing gainz, should be 100% or so not 200, forgot a -100 in the code.

The "market data" is mainly Morningstar analyst reports, which only exist for stocks that have Morningstar reports, so the more obscure your company, the less likely a Morningstar analyst will be following it. On Charles Schwab account, I get access to Morningstar reports as well as Credit Suisse and CFRA (those are the potentially useful ones from human analysts), and I don't pay a monthly fee for my Schwab account. Robinhood also added a level 2 data page, which shows the numbers of buy and sell orders at different prices. It's neat to look at, but I don't know that it has any practical value. Robinhood offers margin trading, but I think the terms are not so good. You supposedly get a $1,000 of margin with the monthly $5 subscription, and 5% for any additional margin used. This means you're paying an effective 6% interest on that first $1,000 if you use it all. In reality, if you're not investing in sissy stocks, RH will label all your stocks as "highly volatile" and sharply raise your maintenance requirements after hiurs suddenly with no good reason and cause a margin call for $15 without any prior warning... So if your RH account balance is not much larger than mine, you may find yourself unable to use the full $1,000 margin safely, so your effective interest rate will be much higher than 6%.

I tried it out, but all in all, I decided it wasn't worth the $5. The most useful feature IMO is the "instant cash."

See the rich/world banks want all those %s to have more and more control to enslave us. Printing at least pushes us further away from a few owning even more. Money will drop eventually but for now it increases faith in system for short term. If trump wasnt in office we probably would have barely gone offthe cliff at this point. We’d have a crisis andthey’d use itto taxusmore ontop of it all. Walmart family goes from owning half our wealth to 66% of our wealth. The population would get taxed like europe, +50% and money would be scarce as hell. Valuable but no one has them. I wonder how AMD is going turn out. Tradionally, they get overhyped before earnings and crash pretty hard afterwards.

But Ryzen 3000 is really killing it with its Q3 release and TSMC posted record numbers (to which AMD might have attributed to quite a bit).

The big unknowns are their GPU sells (according to Powercolor, the 5700 series raised earnings/profit significantly - +100%, IIRC, but then again, it's Powercolor, so that doesn't mean shit) and their ROME server chip sales.

Thoughts?

Reminds me of when seagulls squirt a load of "scaredy-shit" when you slowly walk by while eye-balling them.

Step 0: Create a budget. This should already be done which is why it is step 0.
Step 1: Emergency Fund of $1000 in a high interest savings account. Do this before you pay off your debt.
Step 2: Stay living with your parents and pay off any credit card high interest debt and don't go back to that until you start earning more.
Step 3: Increase your payments to your student loans each month if possible.
Step 4: Don't listen to memes, invest what you can when you can. history shows time in the market > timing the market. investing early = more time for compounding interest. depending on your student loan interest, it might be better to put the extra money in the market. Start with 401K then Roth IRA then taxable accounts.
Step 5: increase your income. this is harder than it sounds, but you'll need to work hard, leverage your skills and possible jump from company to company to get the increase in wages.
Step 6: Save as much as possible. Average person saves 0-15%, shoot for 50% of your take home pay after taxes.
Step 7: Time. This takes time.
