So, recently I have gotten very interested in the idea of treasure/relic hunting and plan to soon buy my first metal detector. The thing is where I live the government has the right to cuck you out of 75% of the value of any treasure you find and that is implying it was on my property with mineral rights, metal detecting tax paid and all that shit. If yoi find it anywhere else you aint getting shit and can even be fined for not reporting it. So, implying I have found a quantity of gold coins in a place where I have no right to claim it, could you get away with melting it down, refining it to remove other metals that could identify its origin and selling the gold legally/illegaly. How hard would that be to pull off or would I still have to prove I got the gold legitately?

if it's on your property, then it's yours. fuck the government

if it's on public property, then it's partially yours - get the finders fee, otherwise you're stealing it from the public.

if its on private property that's not yours, you're stealing it like stealing vegetables from a farmer.

so, the question is how do you get away with stealing.
you're going to need to figure that one out yourself.

If you find a cache of gold then melt it yourself. It's not like you aren't gonna be able to afford to get the equipment. Sell it for cash. Or claimbit was a gift.

And yeah that's basically money laundering.

I heard that many people were actually keeping finds to themselves due to some people having their entire treasure find confiscated.

I mean, fuck that. Would rather melt it down and say I panned it over 20 years.

based thread. anyone do this in europe (old world)?

>> No.15963563

You better not melt it down. It'll destroy any historical value and that's what makes atrifacts valueable, not so much the amount of gold. But yeah fuck the government if it isn't some newsworthy hoard it will just end up in storage. Sell the coins. No one gives a shit if someone puts a coin on ebay every few months.
