Me: Business owner, millionaire, very involved in local charities, but generally apolitical.

Invite was a complete surprise. Not sure what to do. Must admit, seems interesting.

Sacred to the memory of Wm. Morgan, a native of Virginia, a Capt. in the War of 1812, a respectable citizen of Batavia, and a martyr to the freedom of writing, printing and speaking the truth. He was abducted from near this spot in the year 1826, by Freemasons and murdered for revealing the secrets of their order. The court records of Genesee County and the files of the Batavia Advocate, kept in the Recorders office contain the history of the events that caused the erection of this monument.

Are you sure it was a true mason? You're not supposed to "invite" people to join the Freemasons. It's supposed to be a choice. You can only be suggested to join by a member, but there is no real ''Invitational" system.

Yo I walked by that a few months ago, it's pretty cool. My friend was telling me about what happened, pretty wacky. Luckily the local Freemason chapters are small and waning, and their members are complete jokes. They're resorting to recruiting people fresh out of highschool now.

Jes, those old man clubs are gay af, especially in the US. Nothing more than liberal fraternities that have a big issue with gaining new young blood, it is so bad most started to invite women; and the shit about you have to be a millionaire or influential BULLSHIT. They take literally everbody from junkies, over crooks to, again, women.

My uncle was a Mason. Mostly well-established blue collar guys and business owners. Pretty sure they rode Harleys on the weekends. Basically just a boomer hangout with silly hats and traditions.

He had a Masonic funeral when he died, which was pretty cool. I've thought about joining since my great grandpa and uncle were into it, but I'm basically a fuck up loser in all aspects of life so I don't want to waste their time.

Kek, this isn't the 19th century. Free Masonery is deader than horse shoe making. The only thing positively that can be said is about the scottish rite, they kind of keep up the tradition, but like the liberal lodges, they have a massive recruiting problem because being a free mason isn't what it was in the past, just a gay old man club consisting mostly of faggots from the construction industry trying to get public contracts. All the rumors about baby eating and gay orgies are just rumors that were at the beginning a good way to keep idiots out, kind of like /b/, but with the time it backfired and they will probably be just a memory in a decade or so

Yeah, as said, it is a fraternity of some like minded faggots. Not worse than a soccer club, but also not really something one should devote his life to. If one enjoys sitting around and smoking cigars talking about the weather, probably not the worst club to join, but definitely not a free pass to being an influential shadow monarch
>>15843957

I don't understand why /biz/ has so many larpers

Freemasons don't invite you to become a Freemason, it's part of whole idea that someone else is supposed to seek to be a Freemason and go to a lodge to ask, or just ask someone they know is a Freemason about being one. That's why all their "advertisement" is ask12b1 (ask one to be one), since they are not really allowed to ask others to join.

On top of it all, it's not even any kind of underground secret club dude, their buildings are out in the public, and you can become one by just going in and asking to be one. You don't have to be rich or anything, they have a membership fee, but if you're younger, usually someone will pay your first year because lodges are dying and they want more younger Freemasons.

Also, Skull and Bones also has nothing to do with Freemasonry.

>>15842935
Literally any male can join, the only real requirement is that you claim to believe in a supreme being, no atheists allowed. You also have to seem like a "good citizen" type of person, but there is not really any way to verify that. If someone in the lodge knows you and doesn't like you, you can get rejected because when someone wants to join, there is an anonymous vote.

I left Freemasonry a few years ago after I found out that they teach a false salvation and when I realized how occult things really were. I memorized the cyphers for my degree proficiencies without thinking about what they actually said, then when I realized how occult and wicked they were, I left. It's basically a religion.

They probably have some part in it, but it's mostly a result of what happens when you are in an organization with a long history full of tightly knit people. And just like normal society, the ones at the very top are wicked, same thing with politicians who are out in the open and at the "top" of society in a sense.

A lot of the guys at the lodge I was a part of were just there to have a good meal every month, have some fun in lodge, get to know people, and network. It's pretty much just like the Rotary club, except with more of a religious twist on it. Don't get me wrong though, it's a wicked false religion. If it wasn't for that, I would have stayed in. It appears to be a Christian organization on the surface, but it's "Christian" in the sense that Mormons want to be labeled Christian.
