have you tried painting a model before? It takes 3 hours minimum to paint one soldier figure with the level of quality that people who buy pre-painted models would expect. So you're looking at $50 for three hours of work, minus the original cost of the model and the paint (maybe $5 in total materials cost).

So you're looking at $45 profit for three hours of work = $15 per hour. You could make the same money working at Wal-Mart or McDonald's in a major city. I'll pass.

It has great lore. Hardcore redpilled. The gameplay is shit but it is a tabletop game so.. well they are all shit.

OP. You cannot make good money painting.

To expand on this you are better off sniping miniatures that are lower than the usual going price, cleaning them up and trying to flip them for a bit more. Cleaning them up as in removing the old, shit paint job, mold lines, etc.

>>15755079
it's only worth it if OP likes to paint as a hobby. getting paid for what you love doing is better then flipping burgers.

my dad was a genius when it came to this kind of shit, he could make anything out of anything, and he taught me the skills when I showed an interest, but desu I havent painted a single model since the age of 10-13.

My GF's friends are grown ass men that do this shit and its embarressing to see how low the quality of they're skill is considering they do it full time.

$300 for days of assembly and painting is kind of a bad deal anon. Not to mention the time it takes to get this good.

>> No.15755469

>>15755445
its not even hard to get this good, its just tricks, like a base coat, dry brushing, diluted ink(with hazelnut ink this gives the corroded finish on the gold trim for example).

Its really not that hard, a steady hand and a good set of brushes, my dad taught me most of these skills in a week, I was a 10yo making better models than adults.

where the fuck you getting figures like that from, it probs wouldnt take you 5 hrs cumulatively, youd do some work and have to let it dry

comeback and do some more work, etc.

If you took 50 hrs to do this you would be severely doing it wrong. jeez man if you had x5 of the models, you could actually reduce overall time because like a production line you could do each stage in tandom.

niggers so dumb on this board

But is there enough demand to make it sustainable?

>> No.15755694

>>15755660
no idea about demand anon, Its almost a surprise to findout theres much of a market for pre-painted models in this sense as part of the hobby is doing it yourself. I have seen some right trainwrecks of painting jobs with these figures.

Mind, if you are good you can always get a job with an enthusiast magazine/ the model producers themselves.

My pa got really good in his youth because he worked in a big model shop in birmingham, the guy had a natural aptitude for art, and the owner of the shop loved him as he made incredible models of say 'battles at sea' with a galleon shot to pieces on fire half submerged etc.

Now that he's gone I only wish id learned more from that man, he was an excellent carpenter too.

With those tricks you'd get shitty models. Nobody is going to pay you to drybrush a 1200 dollar model half-assed.

oh sorry mr same ID thinking this takes 50 FUCKING HOURS to produce, youve lost your petty little debate, now fuck off, no one cares what you think.

These models arent the sistine chapel, and EVERYTHING is method in life dumb dumb, continue to bang your head against a brick wall doing everything the long way.
