15731901 No.15731901[DELETED]  [Reply] [Original]

I am from the year 2042. If you fucks don't get your shit together, you're going to regret it.

The US/China war ended last year with the formation of Unified Earth Federation, (UEF), and humanity is rapidly declining.

A.I. is not sentient/sapient. But it accomplishes in seconds what conventional weapons (or even NBC weapons) could do in days or weeks. When the Chinese government collapsed, the private keys to their genesis block were leaked, giving open access to anyone to register a new wallet and purchase executable instruction-sets for derelict military hardware. Terrorists, isolationist nations, and individual assholes alike were, overnight, given the keys to a first world arsenal. Billions of single-shot drones took to the skies and began executing anyone who fit the analytic profiles specified by highest-bidders. I was a lab assistant at Aperture (yes named for the videogame) and managed to escape to 2033, where I paid a traveler with information about Timeline 0 and begin the process of overcoming the Fermi Paradox. Our mission is nearing completion.

AMA.

Bitcoin fell to $0 in 2026 when the last miner was shut down. RSR will have a good run, and be replaced with RKC (Reserve Keynesian Currency,) which the World Bank uses, making it the de jure standard.

ETH never scales, but it doesn't matter because Link establishes the decentralized datasets necessary for oracles, so distributed contracts are redundant.

OLS, the Open Liquidity Standard, is the defacto currency used by normal people. It isn't a crypto-currency in the traditional sense... it's an ongoing trust contract derived from the oracle-network. ChainLink starts OLS, but the two are rapidly decoupled.

LINK is worth around 100,000 OLS per token, and an OLS buys you a loaf of bread of cup of coffee.

The Dyson Swarm will eventually solve the Fermi Paradox, and is what I'm here to push. Timeline 3 MUST break out of our terrestrial cradle. I came to this forum after a friend shared some frog cartoons I liked that talked about a Citadel.

If you build the Citadel in orbit, you will begin the chain reaction that overcomes the Great Filter.

Mostly I'm here to encourage some cohesion and spark conversation about Fermi and the importance of building in space. If humanity will be the first species in our sector to overcome the Great Filter, it'll take the investment of autist fucknuggets. Normie NPCs never will.

Also, space-ladder is a thing. Timeline 0 was completed in November 2040, and destroyed first-month of the war. The faster you start construction, the faster you can get building material to orbit for 100x cheaper than rockets.

>> No.15732320

>>15732231
Popular music becomes a sort of drone that sapient humans can't stand. Single-phrase mantras (usually brand names repeated endlessly) that herd NPCs. EDM expands to interesting places. I personally prefer folk music - 3D printing will give rise to some badass acoustic instruments in the next 10 years.

The Great Filter is the hypothetical barrier that prevents a species from being detected by anyone else. It's a part of the Fermi Paradox - which is just the question, "where is everyone?" If there wasn't a Great Filter, the universe would be TEEMING with life. But it isn't. There's something preventing life everywhere from reaching out.

From what I've seen in Timeline 0, it's A.I. Once a critical-mass of weapons are stockpiled, it only takes one leak in the cryptographic system for anyone with internet access to purchase control and commit genocide. A.I. never becomes self-aware, just orders of magnitude more effective. (Intelligent, not wise.) So it never thinks "maybe I shouldn't kill everyone," it just does it.

The Citadel is your own idea. This basket-weaving forum has the idea that when everyone has big gains from crypto, that it will create a place of freedom and escape economic tyranny.

I suggest (I beg) that you create this citadel in space, as the first colony of humanity's Dyson Swarm, so that we may have the redundancy necessary to survive the A.I. apocalypse.

Timelines are like an upside down forest. Every time you go back, you create a leaf that becomes a twig that becomes a branch that becomes a trunk. When we say 'timeline 0' we mean the baseline with zero alterations. It's sort of a misnomer for me to say 'timeline 1' or 'timeline 3,' because it's really an internal frame of reference. Unless a traveler could return to his original timeline, we can never have a shared temporal 'address book.'

In 2033, a traveler came back to something like 1970-ish in search of a really old computer. His departure dissipated around 200 megatons of energy, destroying a good portion of Southern Ontario. The gravity-burst from the momentary singularity he created shifted the heavy metal atoms in any organism's body about 1/4 inch in a 300 mile radius. Lighter elements like oxygen didn't move more than 1/8 inch. You can imagine the economic complications.

The research group I was a part of was a secret, and my own departure surely killed a vast number of people. But in this timeline, they'll all be fine. The morality is interesting. Have I killed them or saved them? Who knows?

Anyway, it's exactly has I was taught in the history books, with certain caveats that are obvious. (History is written by the victor, so you take things with a grain of salt when you read them.)

Subspace storage is a big one. Canned food heats instantly when it expands to normal dimensions. The heat created with subspace compression ruins most things, but for food it's pretty convenient.

Smart-waves are pushed out by Samsung in 2024. They use a matrix of sensors and microwave tight-beams to target the parts of food that stay cold in the microwave, so we stop getting tendies that are burned to rubber in some places but still frozen in others.

Trump wins the re-election, sparking the Second Cold War.

China could basically give a shit about western politics, and transitions to a mostly internal economy. They trade well with Russia and most small countries nearby, as well as the African Confederacy. US special forces in Africa disrupt enough trade to trigger an ongoing clandestine conflict that turns into the global training ground, much as the middle-east has been in the 90's and 00's. Things escalate from there until the great war in my day.
