The massive spending swings are huge factor. Each downturn, half the workforce gets laid off. You can't build an experienced workforce that way. And no one wants to work somewhere where layoffs are inevitable.

Another factor is that military suppliers cannot compete on commercial products. All the shit that the required quality systems entail ends up making your overhead cost as much as your goods & labor.

I've worked at multiple companies that started commercial, saw military as a cash cow, and started on military on the side. But after a few audits the changes they had to make to their quality system cut the legs out of the profitability of their commercial work and they lost it. And when the inevitable military budget cut comes, they'll go under.

short interest is pretty high and short ratio pretty low... shorts (or atleast retail shorts) are going to want to take some profits tomorrow but they might all get caught fighting for the same shares.. could be an interesting ride for a day or two..

imo most of level 2 reading is bullshit... too many algos spoofing the bid and ask.. so i more or less go for where the trading takes place.. like at what levels...

For example when a stock starts to find support it will slow down but if there are no big orders going through i don't see it as strong support.. sometimes you'll even see a huge order go through around what looks like support and it'll bring the price up just a tad only for it to sell off again..

Fomoed into a stock and if you look at the stock it looks like it was being used as a pump and dump. Shouldve not bought at all. Shouldve sold at a 25% loss. Now im down about 50% of the value i threw in. Advice?

I went to reddit dude weed stocks page earlier to gauge the sentiment. They're about ready to start hanging themselves. 'Dude weed is dead', 'Can shorts really push nearly profitable companies in to penny stock range?'; feels of this variety. In the past, that has been a bullish indicator to me. Anyway, I put together a chart to look at the drawdown range of the HMMJ mostly Canadian dude weed lmao ETF this evening. It's more consistent in terms of percentage drops than I expected. Chart covers entire life span of the HMMJ to date, starting from inception in April of 2017.

Economist is also great for long reads and you don’t have to buy to read some 3-4 free articles each month (which is enough). F-times has good in-depth articles on all things europe, global sometimes filled with some honest shit you wouldn’t find anywhere else. Bloomberg is more like one stop shop but I don’t like their ux. Zerohedge is ok for various news items but is filled with alex jones tier garbage and clearly is leaning to russia, anyway still worth visiting. Blogs and twitters some times are good sources.
Anyway to really know what’s going on - study economics, follow fred etc. data + geopolitics and you’ll be good to go.

$11 sounds like a plausible number. I think you could put a rough estimate together from his 13F filings for Scion Asset Management, but they only state the market value at the end of the quarter, not the purchase price or even date of purchase.
