Because not everything has value solely based on productive utility or rarity
Things can have aesthetic value or emotional value.
If you aren't trying to fulfill your aesthetic needs and your need to enjoy things, or what you need to be fulfilled like a family, then what are you trying to get rich for

I bet OP
>buys clothes he thinks looks good and doesnt wear the cheapest ugly clothes that fulfill his needs at home and has one pair for social setting and one for work
>probably plays games of some sort
>probably buys food he thinks tastes good rather than pure nutrition for the cheapest price
>probably spends some of his time for leisure for enjoyment rather than doing chores or working another job, paying opportunity cost because it makes him happier

Also, how many woman actually own a lot of jewelry? Most women seem to have maybe one or two "expensive" pieces at most that they combine with clothes for aesthetics and use for special occasions, and maybe a few pieces of cheapo jewelty that looks good, a lot of the time most of their jewelry was a gift, or the expensive stuff from grandma. Many of the women I've met dont even seem to own jewelry at all

Engagement and wedding rings is a tradition thousands of years old across the globe, it's an obvious symbol of partnership and exclusivity and certainly I'd say important enough to be worth spending some cash, though the expected price of an engagement ring is heavily inflated and not actually reality. Something like 50% of people are spending well under 2k on the ring, a small smattering across higher prices, then theres a spike at the end of the curve where the vain, very rich, or conned are spending astronomical amounts. The cost of engagement rings is a direct result of the diamond scheme and then diamonds being made into the one acceptable ring for engagement- something zoomers and young millenials are shitting on.

I'm not really seeing this problem of women who are obsessed with wasting cash on gemstone and PM jewelry

Jewelry used to be expensive because it was hand-crafted and made from actually expensive material, literally money in the case of gold. But now that everyone is too poor for that and doesn't care, they go with whatever looks nice. The reason most people own expensive jewelry is peacock feathers, to pay bail, heirlooms, or to symbolize a special occasion.
