My friend made 30k last week on stock options, and wants to show me how he does it. I’m killing myself working at my current job, but not sure if I should quit to do something that seems less stable when it looks like markets are about to go off a cliff.
Then again I don’t know anything about stocks so I wanna ask does anyone on /biz/ have success doing this as your sole income? Have you been burned by it? I know my friend is successful at it but want to hear from more people I guess

don't be retarded. quit only after you've figured out a trading strategy that works and you are able to bring in enough consistently. you're thinking about just quitting your job to day trade, but don't know anything about it? consider it a part time afterwork hobby until it becomes something more than that.

I've only ever traded options once - shorting RIO into the mining bust. I was pretty fucking nervous about it. I did make good money from the trade. But, I realised that I don't have the temperament for it. I got too emotional and was thinking irrationally; even though I really did know my trade. So, it ain't for me. But, some very smart, very stable people make great money from it. I've an uncle that trades bank options and makes more a year doing that, than he did as a dentist

Yeah my buddy has been working on his strategy for years and is going to show me everything and basically have me follow his trades and strategy. I’m not quitting immediately or anything, but I don’t know if this stock shit has like good and bad seasons or if I should feel good about it if things work out for a few months straight etc

Thanks for the response, I think I’m pretty emotionally sound with that kind of thing. I’ve been long holding some crypto and once I put the money into the market I accept it as being gone and don’t get emotional about the pumps and dumps.
