You're not understand what he is trying to convey in the tweet. He is saying that in Germany, there is no law in place that sets a maximum country-wide speed limit. My country (Canada) has a nationwide legal limit of 120, and no province is allowed to set any roads higher than that.

That's because they ONCE had regulations. People need to undergo regulations for a while until they internalize them. Then you can lift the regulations.

he's salty about regulations fucking up his exchange business
sadly as much as it sucks we need regulation in crypto if we want institutional money
if it stayed unregulated I guarantee all the major banks in the world would kill off every single fiat on-ramp possible, it's not difficult to do.

For all intents and purposes new money is institutional money, I mean we don't really own our money when it's inside the bank, they can literally tell us where we can or can't send our money. It's like when credit cards and paypal blocked crypto, it fucked over normies hard. We will never get widespread retail adoption without shit like AML/KYC and securities laws being enforced, the institutions simply wouldn't allow it.

I wish German's future wasn't so sad and bleak... I've been living in this country for more than a decade now, but there really is no future. Our regulations and slow decision making will lead the rest of the world to overtaking us within a few decades... I wish there was a place for us. But we will have to obey our new overlords.
