Also crypto derivatives bread.

Check my bitmex vs derishit
https://twitter.com/KadaneZod/status/1147979399414681600?s=20

I still use bitmex only to short browncoins.

But everything else is better on deribit, from futures to perpetual swap.

Been trading options for ages, can do advanced strategies.
Can long or short volatility on one direction or non-directionally at all.

Good question.
Options are expensive now indeed; premium is high. Bambou is shorting volatility for instance.

Me, not doing that. Can explain why if you're interested.

Nice one.
In stock market mostly I use options as hedge.

A simple strategy I like is selling big shot 1month call for stocks that I get as long term bets.
Say price is 100, I buy and immediately sell calls with strike 110 for 10. If the price stays below 110 in the month the options expire worthless and I basically paid 90 for a stock worth 100. If they go above 110 I am forced to sell.. forced to sell at a +10% gain (on top of the 10 per put I gained already).

Simplified numbers for the plebs.

Talking about BTC, I chose fundamental paramenters which include major events and constants.
E.g. NYAG/iFinex fuckery, different layers of kHw miners' profitability, and so on. TA aspects are acknowledged but I put it at a lower level of importance. Moving averages are interesting but a trend is a trend.

What's options? Is it derivatives? Is it like derivatives? Is it leverage-oriented like Bitmex? Can you give me a basic run down?

>> No.15016935

Great model to use in environments in which the lack of liquidity can create opportunities (e.g. the P2P casino which is deribit), however fundamentally risky to expect reasonable movements of volatility in anomalous markets (bitcoin).
Could be interesting to chase value in deribit books with it; I am pretty sure there's already bots on the platform though.

Bitmex is risky now indeed. I still use it to short shitcoins tho.

ByBit is an alternative but I find deribit offering overall better conditions for the time beibg.

A TA trader can use options to cut risks; me personally I get entry points with a more fundametalish leaning approach when I set up the big strategies; if I wanna operate fast I just use deribit futures.

Depends on whether I believe volatility is overpriced in one or both directions.

Right now for instance September options are pricey due (hi IV) and could consider a non directional short of volatility, e.g. a short straddle or maybe short strangle. But won't do it yet, at least not prior to the NYAG hearing. After that I'll consider placing some stink bids.

That twitter post is full of shit. I trade on deri and it had downtime about a dozen times since May. Half the other statements are also wrong which leads me to believe it's a 30second effort to shill some ref links.

Recently true, deribit has had some issues (after I made that tweet by the way).

But for you to write that deribit is worse than bitmex it means you never really used bitmex meaningfully. I suggest you do some research about bitmex conveniently having downtime in some very strategic moments; very well documented.
