What's your stance on the BYND earnings? I am of the opinion that the stock is overvalued, but that it will still increase in value because of better than expected earnings. Considering how small the company is, the media attention they have been getting and that they sell a "cheap" product, I think it is nearly impossible that lots of new customers didn't try the burger. The stock will very likely adjust this year to a more reasonable value, but I just think it's a bit too soon for this. Also, too many investors like to bet on potential.

The earnings, heck even most numbers don't matter when it comes to BYND
That's why they call it a story stock. The point is, you don't buy BYND because of any present-tense or near future earnings or sales numbers. You buy BYND because you see a million announcements of partnerships with restaurants, and because you can imagine BYND being one of the biggest food companies on Earth in a decade. But mostly, for those buying BYND, they buy it because everyone else is buying it

>> No.15001796

>>15001510
That's exactly right
I posted about it yesterday evening, but there is an incoherence right now in the supermarket and in the marketplace, and it is centered on processed foods.

For the last decade we've had people who were not food processing engineers tell us that processed foods are evil. And recently, big processed food companies like KHC and the others have had a hard time selling as many processed food products as they used to.
Then along comes BYND. Their food product is extremely processed and not cheap, because they have to go through a massive amount of chemistry to try and get pea protein powder to look and act like a burger.
And for marketing reasons, their processed food isn't bad. It's good for you, you're a friend of cows everywhere for eating it, etc. All the restaurants want this processed food product on their menus, and investors are blown away and can't stop buying it.
But it's all going to rubber band and revert to mean for some reasons:
Realization by consumers that BYND is super processed, and therefore "bad"
Realization by consumers that the BYND product is processed, but that doesn't mean it's bad, there isn't anything inherently wrong with processed foods (leading into a processed foods resurgence as a decade-long trend)
Other food companies come out with new and improved fake meat foods that they've been working on. They have stronger production and distribution channels, and can start to make large and substantial restaurant deals

Last thought : don't count out players like McD or Yum from making their own fake meats in house, instead of buying from one of the food processing conglomerates. It is just as likely that MCD R&D comes out with the hottest fake meat product of 2020, to sell in their stores (and possibly supermarkets too). Don't count out Walmart. Don't even count out Amazon, they're a long shot but I see a possibility that anyone in the food processing space comes out with a FM product in the next two years

>> No.15001880

>>15001796
Probably not Amazon, I just looked up whole foods and they basically have no food processing infrastructure or research, so it would have to come from the Amazon grocery side which doesn't do that as far as I know
I was just trying to throw out all the possibilities.
MCD still firmly on the plate
The thing I should re-emphasize is that MCD isn't a cheapy like KHC is a cheapy. KHC, CAG, etc. have been brutalized by the "natural foods" fad, so they are on sale especially if we go into a more processed foods friendly trend next.

I think BYND had put themselves in a difficult spot with their fake meat. It strikes me as being a lot easier to reverse engineer their product than it was to develop it in the first place, after all people already know it's essentially pea protein and oil. I'd be shocked if most big food companies and even AMZN weren't running mass spec and stuff on it right now, if there's an AMZN branded fake meat that undercuts it in price they're done for. I do think a lot of the selling power of fake meat is that it provides an almost religious sense of absolution in the consumer, even if it's bad they feel like they're good people for not hurting the animals and being """"good"""" for the environment. I think WMT/MCD would have a hard time selling their own versions because people associate those brands with being lower class and bad for the environment, whatever that means.

Lol they definitely aren't
For chemical/structural things like processed meats, they are running chemical tests and mostly just looking at it through microscopes
Mass spectrometry is to determine elemental composition. BYND meat product is just C, H, N, O, etc. the obvious organic stuff, and knowing the ratios doesn't help.

It's not super easy to reverse engineer and make the stuff overnight. I think there are really dozens of ingredients and dozens of processing steps.
I think the goal shouldn't be to copy BYND, but to exceed in quality with less processing.
If I were an R&D lead at a food processor, my goal would be to relax the "make it look and taste and have the consistency of meat". That's a very tough criteria, I think that it would be possible to make some plant-based macro balanced food that tastes really good and isn't as heavily processed. Just my feeling. It can be meat-like, but less so than the BYND product
And it should be full of psilocybin

So Burger King's out. Personally, it's going to have to be Taco Bell. But if I were taking the family, I think it would need to be McDonalds, at least for my wife's sake. But she'd really rather go to Chik-Fil-A or Wendy's anyway.

Got screwed over by robinhood. They're app is utter garbage, GE stock is listed as giving about 4.8% dividends. Learned elsewhere it's like 0.25%.

Biz is GE worth holding or best to sell off once it reaches break even prices at least? Stuck a few hundred but think their might be better stocks.

Sorry lurkers/posters/jannies.. just trying to keep the thread alive :..?

>been fucking this girl (fuck buddy)
>can't bring her home to family because conflict between her and my family and friends
>we are perfect for each other but it just can't work.. i can fuck other girls and she can fuck other guys we just don't tell anyone we fuck each other.
shes also very good at pool (so am I) so it makes for a fun time
>she tells me she has a friend that needs work done on her patio (i'm a handyman)
>tell her i can do it and to have the girl hit me up.
>tonight playing pool (with fuck buddy)
>she then says "oh, my friend that needs the patio work done just got here"
>girl comes in
>hottest girl at the fucking bar.. smoking fucking hot!!
>everyone checking her out
>I eye her from her body first and work my way up to her face
>as shes walking over we both make eye contact....
>shes a girl I used to fuck with back when I was 17-18
>she smiles.. I smile back (more like smirks), fuck buddy introduces us.. tell her we know each other and hint "real well"
>we try to ignore each other due to our past (old fuck buddies seem to do that for some odd reason)
>play some games of pool with others (people usually gather around when I play)
>she keeps coming to me to try and make small talk.. I keep ignoring her..
>guys keep coming by just to talk about how extremely sexy she is.
>toward the end of the night tell her i'd like to talk to her before she goes
>she says she'll be leaving soon (she's with a well known dyke that always pulls hot chicks)
>she sticks by me and basically starts to flirt with me
>tells me I look really good.. tell her thanks.. so do you
>does that little smile and sips her drinks and says "well like not on drugs and what not anymore" I chuckle and say " well i'm not the same guy as back then..
>she then repeats and makes it firm "well you look like really really good"
>tell her in a well maybe we just haven't seen eachother for a long time..

>as i'm leaving someone at the bar has bought me a shot
>walk by her to get shot
>as I walk by her.. she shouts "hey anon! don't forget about the patio!" and when i look at her she gives me that type of smile that the patio isn't as important as me hitting her up
>say oh i wont.. and give her that look like we're gunna fuck again...

Dirve back home and think to myself.. wow... this girl is actually pretty amazing.. we both come from the same area.. decent families... both had our little play time but know that since we were young we've both liked each other but didn't realize how well we'd be together until now when we're older.. but yet.. we're both at a fucking dive bar and most the time nothing good comes from there..... Do any of you guys think it's worth pursuing a girl from a dive bar? she really didn't look like she belonged there but she is extremely sexy and I don't mind taking care of a chick if she's just my sex doll and does my clothes, laundry, and cooks me food(basically i'd pay for her life as long as she did every fucking thing i told her to)... would it be wrong for me to swoop her up even though I know shes been around(so have I) but is extremely sexy..???? i'm so fucking confused about it....

LCI to $60

I make so much money without having to work that my life is boring.. problem is I don't have enough to actually actively trade (need about 500,000- 1,000,000,000 and even if I did i wouldn't want to.. I like being out and about.. I do have that kind of money but it's in different types of investments that are boring as fuck that take minimum of 6 months.. i'm an accredited investor and have accounts with brokers that most can not have... even in the investments I have.. my business associates are extremely aggressive (they're multi millionaires) but even then i've talked to their wives and they all say the same thing(their wives).. "we have all this money but we never do anything" it's like these guys become addicted to making more and more money.. i mean millions a year.. i'm just starting (3 years in) and they're trying to put me up on the pedestal.. sometimes i don't know if i want it... the life they live is fucking crazy as fuck.. they always travel around and make big deals but never have time for family.. their kids don't care for them and they don't care for their kids.. they lived that life and have moved on.. they're in their 60s+ and they always push me to be like them... I haven't even started a family.. but they want me to take the wheel of their businesses.. I just don't know if i want to.... some of these deals I do are extremely speclulative.. i have a bunch of lawyers that look it over and then the brokers lawers.. but its extremely stressfull.. then i have business partner that's always high as fuck.. like literally will take 5-10k out of our business account and disapear and then i get heat from associates about it..... they don't like my partner but yet have to deal with him but.. then i can't leave my partner

I've bought stock for .00005 from a company and sold it all at .0002... shit was so sketchy.. the ceo tried to sell me the stock for .000065.. but my mentors told me no.. fuck that.. tell the CEO fuck you!! I did and thank god.. the stock went to .0001 with no bid... the company was legit but it was extremely speculative (it actually ended up doing well in the long run).. but if i didn't get it for .00005 i would've broke even.. then once i bought them and put them on market some guy called me and said he wanted to buy them all for .0001.. problem is.. if i sold all at .0001 i'd lose money... between all the lawyers and brokers fees...

Also.. if any of you motherfuckers have access to OTC check out SIML.. the stock is going to climb nicely!!! I would not buy it right now i'd wait till .02 and maybe sell around .20 or even higher.. awhile ago I had some associates want me to fuck with them.. I didn't.. but i asked my brokers about them.. most of them said they are on their "dont do business with" list.. meaning.. they can not dilute!!!! not only that but they kicked all old management out the fucking door and all old invesors... I actually talked to the CEO Rich.. and he told me no on some investments on i wanted to make.. he said he is going to turn that company around BIG TIME!! i said yeah!?!?! well i've heard that before but i've seen a lot of flops!!! and i said it jokingly.. and real serious he said "nothing i do flops!" he started his own telecommunications business in san fran and grew it big.. now he's onto some CBD venutre... i tried to get in but he will not let any dilution accure especially since no brokers will allow it... he took control BIG TIME and kicked a lot of toxic investors out.. he has since extingushied debt and bought back shares!! unheard of for OTCpinks.. SIML could potentially reach nasdaq.. no joke.... the only reason why... is because the new CEO.. if any of you know how to read filings and see what he's done its fucking incredible.. i've been around the pinks for awhile and talked to a lot of CEOs.. and this guy is no bullshit!! at first i didn't believe it until i started reading the news.... there isn't going to be any dilution.. there isn't going to be any pump and dump.. there isn't going to be any scam people around.. he going to turn the company around and he has the right people to do it... he said "anon.... look... i'm old... i've seen this all before.. and anon and anon and anon (my business partners) arent' going to destroy this company... and neither are you.... we have cash flow we have big deals coming.. we have great opportunity here..

You can do that now aswell if you find the right company to invest in, the problem is that it's almost impossible to know. Just as it was impossible to know that Amazon would become massive. If you bought bitcoin in 2012 and held it you would have made 120000% in 2017, if you bought it in 2011 you would have made ~400000%, etc etc.
Tl;dr irrelevant thoughts.

I bought 4 bitcoins in 2012, I didn't know shit about it and had no idea it would reach 20k in the future. I just forgot about it and sold when I heard about the hype a few years later. It's literally up to you to just take a chance about something you find cool/interesting and hold it for years.
Look at AMD for example, in ~10 years from now their stock might be worth.. let's say $200 or something if they keep up. Which means you would have made 17000% if you bought in 2016. Sitting here speculating how much you would have made if you bought will only make you depressed and that's stupid considering you have missed thousands of similar opportunities. If you didn't invest in for example AMD back in 2016, you wouldn't have invested in Amazon back in 2001.
So again, irrelevant.

SIML doesn't need any money and we area expecting to grow at a healthy rate...... we chit chat for a little and that was it.......... So I have confidence in that company.... so any of you that have access to OTC i suggest you check it out... the CEO Rich Hylen is no fucking joke... check out their subsidary satel.. he started that and beast mode it through... again.. i'd wait till .02 to start buying and i'd wait till at least .20 to even think about selling

>There's plenty of posts here about stocks that literally no one has responded to.
Probably because you're all retards gambling. Why do we even have these threads anymore? Not a single fucking person here is talking about anything relevant to actually investing, you're just randomly picking companies based off news cycles. I cant even remember the last time someone posted their yields, dividends, projected profits/loss on a company. /biz/ is literally worthless for making money. Risk management literally does not exist on /biz/, its impossible to make money without understanding or dealing with it. Drawing some trend lines on a graph does not fucking make you right in predicting the future.

You're all day/week trading tiny amounts of money thinking you're going to make it big that way because everyone here wants to make as much money as possible with as little work instead of actually sitting down and putting in effort. It doesn't matter if you have $1 or $10M, there are simple easy long term investing strategies which have been shown over and over to beat any dumb fuck short term trading. Even the best funds in the world dont trade in short term anymore, stocks are literally only purchased for 2 years minimum, and those funds still in 10+ year time frames often fail to out perform the basic indexes.

And finally to top it all off the perfect investment does exist, the SP500 or your countries equivalent in an index fund/ETF. Do you know how fucking insane a 10% return every single year for the rest of your life is? When you throw in dividends and buybacks your tiny 10,000 seed grows into hundreds of thousands, and the more you put into it the faster it grows. But no one here would do that, because it would require you sitting down and figuring out how much you can save a year, and putting it away from the future, and you're all so fucking impatient you would rather throw it all away on a worthless chance of getting rich.

This board is fucking Tulips.

I made 100$+ last week on 13k$. Bear in mind I messed up in multiple trades (T, VALE and EXC) making less than I could've. An average of 100$ a week would cause my account to rise by 16%+ annually, which would make me out perform the index. I don't use it as much now because I don't travel as far for work and it's not worth gearing up to ride for 2 minutes and hop off again. But if you have the time it's worth it for sure. I wouldn't even get anything super fast if it's your first bike. More fun to ride a small bike fast than a big bike slow.

Without making too many judgements on anons in these threads - the most pathetic thing I see is them jumping on the bandwagon of literally any fucking stock they get shilled here. Case in point LCI last week.

LCI gets a fake pump, jumps 35 percent, already much too high to buy in at the same day(it has no choice but to pull back), and yet you see all these anons instantly hopping on it, buying 1-2k worth of it, like they think it's going to pump ALL DAY. Then the inevitable happens and they post portfolios of them losing 1k in a day, the next day. It's seriously fucking pathetic.

Just examine this situation anons: do you really think you're going to "make it", by trend hopping every fake pump you see - just because some guy on an anonymous image board said "buy it"?

I'm not trying to say I haven't had losses - I'm holding --3k and -5k on VSTM and NVAX, but at least I didn't buy this shit because I saw someone shilling it on an anonymous image board. And again, I can't stop stressing it - buying a stock at 1-2 pm when it's already reached its high for the day? Jesus fucking Christ.

150k is too much to go all in on stocks at once, especially with the market at all time highs. The market could roar higher, and eventually will, but I'm not optimistic about the trade talks set to resume this week, and the rate cut is already built in.

Basically, I'm saying you need to diversify, and never underestimate the power of having a nice chunk of cash to buy with when the market pulls back (see: November-January). Buy a tiny bit of precious metal too, like 5% of your portfolio, just in case things go wrong. That's a trade you're hoping to lose money on though, if you make money on gold, it means there was another 9/11 level disaster or hyperinflation.

If you want better advice, give more information on your situation, what you're hoping to do, if you already have emergency funds and hedges in place, etc. If you plan to just let the money sit for years, and never want to have to follow the market, then all-in SPY/QQQ is fine.

Interesting, I didn't know that. QQQ has no fossil fuels, you're right. It also has no financials though, and I don't like that. Rate cuts aren't great for banks, but I still think the banks have a relatively low valuation, and Mastercard&Visa will probably continue to rise.

For IWM, I'm not crazy about smallcaps, I just want exposure to the broader market in case I'm missing something. I think the big guys have the pricing power and other advantages to withstand any issues like trade wars, and can even last through a recession when we get one.

Clearly, I need to look more at these ETF holdings, but because I use Schwab, I've been focused on their funds, because for users there are no transaction fees, and the expense ratios are pretty damn low. SCHG, SCHV, SCHX, and SCHB in particular.

My wife has been to Office Depot multiple times in recent years to use their print services. I personally have been there twice recently: once to pick up a printer I bought online and another time for some office supplies. Some people say stupid things like all stores are going out of business except Amazon and that Amazon will be 100% of retail business, which is stupid. But ODP is not just a brick-and-mortar consumer retail. Their future growth focus is more on business-to-business sales, plus their Compucomm division.

The share price being low is the reason why ODP is a good buy right now. By your reasoning, BYND is a great stock now because it keeps hitting new highs for no good reason. ODP is trading at a steep discount, presumably because it's perceived now as an unglamorous company with lackluster growth prospects. Even if that ends up being true, I think as long as you keep your cost basis under $2 per share, you're unlikely to lose a lot of money. Suppose $2 is the new normal, even then you're still receiving a $0.10 per share annual dividend payout (assuming a cost basis of <$2, would be a >5% yield), and writing calls under current conditions can easily net more than double that, potentially quite a bit more. I think it's not unlikely that we coul see a pump above $3 in the relatively near future, very likely to see a pump above $2.50, and extremely likely to see pumps near or into at least the $2.20s for a >10% return if sold. On the other hand, suppose ODP has just a $0.3x EPS and the market deems it worthy of just a 10 PE ratio, that's already a $3+ stock. And I think, over the longer term, ODP may very well surprise some people.

The perception that they're an office supply company is the reason why the share price is so low.

When in actuality they're trying to rebrand as a B2B supplier, getting into selling IT infrastructure as a service to small and medium businesses and other IT solutions through their CompuCom subsidiary.

They also recently (as in last week recently) started selling their products globally through Alibaba, cutting out the need to develop their own e-commerce platform and getting immediate heavy exposure to the Chinese market.

On top of all this as they're trying to focus on online sales they're turning their physical retail buildings into co-working spaces ala WeWork. This is a growing market that also offers synergy with their existing business. Paying members come into their coworking space and subsequently become customers of their traditional office supply business.

Their forward P/E is below 10. They sell below book value. They pay a 5% dividend. Announced a $100m share buyback program (this year?).

This isn't even the entire story either. It isn't guaranteed success but management seems to be aggressively pursuing profitability, not coveting a dying legacy business until bankruptcy.

Decreasing breeding rate is generally expected as societies develop and modernize, quality of life goes up, cost of living goes up. Also appears to be linked to equality/education of girls/women. And shift away from agrarian lifestyle. If you need help around the farm, it might make sense to have more kids, whereas if you need more money for paying your bills, makes less sense.

For all who wondered, I used a recipe for cooking salmon straight from frozen. Got a great deal at GO.

I remembered to take out a frozen chicken breast when I made my salmon, so that’s what I’ll be making tonight. Probably just use the toaster oven again, pretty convenient.

Don’t really want to add much sodium or sugar, so I’m not crazy about any of the recipes I’ve found, and brining seems like just forcing extra salt in the meal.

ginger finely chopped

for garlic, you will want to go hot oil in pan -> garlic in -> chicken in

putting the chicken and garlic together before you coat it doesn't do anything for you, coating the chicken in garlic will overpower and make cooking it all weird. don't go that route.

Elon you should be asking your lawyers this, not posting about it on /smg/
the short thing to say is: if you want to IPO a company you have to fill out a lot of paperwork and get approval
an easier route would be to somehow force a space-X payout, meaning to initiate a one-time dividend payout based on the company's cash holding and then use that money to fund TSLA
but the investors of SpaceX would probably riot (even though many are invested in both)

basically you aren't getting away with it

Btw Elon has said that he loathes the stock market because it would put pressure on SpaceX to be as profitable as possible but unironically I just want to support the endeavor. Not as charity, but as a slow long term investment. Elon is a meme machine but the team behind spacex has done some solid work. High profile engineering projects seem like the last remnants of healthy social groups relatively unaffected by political insanity.
