RSR is a coupon (to use his wording) that can be used to buy RSV from the reserve smart contract. Whenever RSV is trading above $1 on exchanges, which occurs when demand for RSV increases, you can trade $1 worth of RSR for 1 RSV and sell that RSV for a couple percent profit, which maintains the peg. The RSR sent to the smart contract is permanently burned.
Now imagine that demand for RSV rises into the billions - if it is adopted widely in venezuela, or if exchanges decide it's safer than Tether - billions worth of RSR will be burned to mint that RSV.

If this coin ends up becoming popular, the value of RSR will explode. In the whitepaper, a condition that must be met before new RSR tokens are minted is that the value must be greater than $10. That's a 326,057% profit at current price.

>wow and i bought BTC in 2012 congrats "oldfag"
If you bought BTC in 2012 and are still here shitposting, you fucked up. You either sold too early, didn't buy enough, or went broke due to having a low IQ.
>i was talking about that retarded roll out that requires low IQ beaners to adopt a decentralized stable coin (KEK!) when they can't even afford bananas
Try and articulate yourself more clearly, then people will respond to your specific points.
One of the reasons people can not afford bananas is because they do not have a stable currency for day-to-day transactions.
A country undergoing hyperinflation is the perfect starting point for a stable currency. These are the people who need it most, and the competition for stablecoins in developed markets is already well-served by USDC/Dai/etc.
>This is nothing but another lifestyle startup
Sure, that's why the team was at Davos talking about Reserve.

>these vcs throw money at everything with a >5% success rate
If RSR achieves their goals a lot of people here will become multimillionaires. Given the current price a >5% chance at getting a few million is a great bet.
>now they have to execute
What part of risk/reward ratio are you struggling with? Have you ever heard of "asymmetric risk"? If success was 100% guaranteed RSR would cost a lot more than $0.003.

lmao this fucking guy

Reserve is the first and only stablecoin to solve the scalability trilemma with good governance. Any brainlet knows that tether and DAI have huge problems. Libra is probably years away now with regulators.

That being said, no one is bothering to issue stablecoins in non crypto markets, primarily because most of the market is in crypto. The reality is that tether's market cap is tiny for a stablecoin. Reserve is already going to be the stablecoin of choice for the crypto markets. That's a given. The real problem is getting the masses to use it. If you can get past that, the market goes into the trillions.

There is no real dominant stablecoin. Tether only exists for people to find safety in the crypto markets, yet it's highly unstable and shady.

This is the first real stablecoin thyy actually fucking works. In a great twist of irony, it has a speculative asset tied to it that's going to make me and the people in this thread very rich.

Even if you hate this coin or believe it will fail, it's still gonna pop from its current MC sometime in Q3 with the release. Not a bad hold for anyone tbqh

Will 500k be enough to make it? I've got holder's anxiety.

> Reserve is the first and only stablecoin to solve the scalability trilemma with good governance

Wat? Reserve is a protocol that aims to eventually be coin-agnostic by supporting all major smart contract platforms. The problem Reserve is solving has nothing to do with Vitalik's trilemma.

The only real solution to the scalability Trilemma so far that I'm aware of is IOTA post-coordicide, but that won't be here for another year or two.

Stable coins are subject to the same dilemma, but the problem is how their governed and how they operate.

I suggest you watch Nevin's talk about why tether, maker, and algos fail.

Nevin was clear in the presentation that he wasn't referring to Vatalik's scalability trilemma. Scalability for decentralized stable coins means: "circulation needs to smoothly scale up with demand." That makes sense.

>actually works
Anon, it’s basically a testnet right now. It doesn’t work. It might someday. But it doesn’t now.
