If youre talking about pricing, Nadex, and InteractiveBroker should be the cheapest for futures/forex. For stocks I guess Id say robinhood if youre making 1000s of trades and do it full time, IB would be the best for everything else

>why 15
20 makes the outer bands too small.

But I dont know, I never use stop loss, I use something called Time loss. If the price action is a certain way after 30-80 days I make the decision to take a loss or not, because fakeout breakouts happen near 100% of the time and going below support is not a reason to sell immediately

Your question has multiple layers due to you involving Bitcoin which isn't a stock and doesn't adhere to the rules stocks do, you're allowed to buy and sell stocks as you please as long as you hold them for a day, any trade (a buy+sell) made within the span of a single trading day counts as one of four day trades you're allowed to make per week if you don't have 25k in your brokerage account. That being said, you can buy/sell Bitcoin and infinite amount of times for no fees or restrictions on Robinhood because it isn't a stock, but if you trade crypto at all you'll realize you're actually trading some derivative of Bitcoin as you cannot transfer the Bitcoin you own on Robinhood out of what ever wallet they put it on

I think I want to do mostly position trading, and invest in companies I like on pullbacks or undervaluation. Mostly. I could really use some steady income though to offset stupid noob things I've done.

But getting something automated going, so I'm not trying to wake up every day pre-market and catch up with the news and then stay plugged in all day... I think that would be very useful.

Daddy Jerome will drag all you kids, kicking and screaming, down the path of prosperity and secure monetary policy
He has an inflation target to hit (2%). And Jerome doesn't miss
The earnings will happen, blah blah blah. If they're bad enough then maybe sentiment starts to shift towards a doublecut
Or maybe next week Jerome will poke his head out of his office, say "hey this economy is doing really well', and not cut rates at all. Mostly it depends on if he sees his own shadow.
Either way, a no-cut is also a bullish enough indication, because it just means we can always cut more freely and more forcefully down the line
Basically compared to EU and China right now we have all the length, girth, and leverage to use it
3k is just the beginning

Good news is good news

I think too many people are trying to second-guess or preempt the meta right now
I know it *feels* really late in the cycle right now be we have another few scuttles back and forth before things really break down (unless something really throws geopol out of order) and we're mostly goingn to be near or above 3k until we get into the true late-cycle
Right now we're in fakeout late cycle
The earnings and rate don't really matter as long as everyone says the right things and we all stay chill. When the meta shifts it will be more difficult, more defensive, bit for now we gotta plant our seeds while the sun is shining or whatever the saying is

The reverse split is going to hurt, but only temporarily by my estimation.

If they seriously are in a position to mass produce spider silk and need dosh to fund it then the R/S will at least be got something positive.

Under a billion shares after operating on the OTC for over a decade is actually pretty soundly managed so I doubt Kimberley is going to just inflate the share structure again. He's a shit CEO in a lot of ways but that isn't one.

Mixed in with Fedposting AND Muller both on Wednesday, and you got the perfect ingredients for a Black swan event (or a baby Black swan flash crash at least)

Depends on your end goals, do you plan to invest for a year or two, hold for a week, hold for a decade? Hold for a million centuries?

Half now, 10% each month after this one might b alright way to DCA in for the next 6 months, or if you want exposure slower just plop 10% a month, no big 50% upfront?

You need to be more specific about your goals before any advice can be too personalized for you

yea its very easy to forget how powerful "sell in May and go away" truly is

especially for newbs, or traders who dont sell a thing before summer starts

it can also cause problems when people start getting back into the market after summer is over (see last september, for example)

volume can sometimes tell you much more about the future than any price movements can

>>14929337
part of why i avoid stop losses, they are just targets for big whales to hit, so that they can pick up your shares for cheap

a stoploss lasting only a day ill use, but leaving a stoploss overnight (or for weeks at a time) is bad discipline, and a great way to find unwanted surprises (especially from aftermarket price movements)

as long as you have a plan.
for example:
if the stock goes down by 30% in the next month, what do you do?
if the stock goes sideways for 6 months, 12 months, 24 months, what do you do?
if the stock suddenly goes up by 20%, 50%, 100% in a short time period, do you just keep holding or will you take your gains at some point?
It's important to think about these things ahead of time so that you're responding with a calculated plan, and not emotions.

>Long term is my plan. Also that it would help in retiring before 50. I'm in my mid 20's if that helps. Dividends seem like a good idea but I'm still new to this.
plan out a portfolio where blue chips with dividends are the main thing in your portfolio (50% of entire portfolio, at LEAST)
split the remainder of portfolio on index funds (DIA is a favorite because monthly dividends) and raw cash to sit on in case of a dip, and cash to spend on memes and options dreams (or just use dividend money alone to fund memes)
or just 90% blue chips and 10% cash, safer, probably get you more money in the long run, but its less "fun"
and if youre in 20's then just dollar cost average as soon as you can, like 10% of planned stocks a week, so your planned portfolio is completely funded by week 10 (or 10% a day so you are complete within 2 weeks, would be even better)
also the more often you can continue to add money to your portfolio (like $5 a paycheck every week or something) the better you will be (and of course, the more each week the better youll be in the future)

never try to time the market, it can stay irrational for far longer than you can
we have been "overdue" for a recession for almost 4 years now, but if you had waited to enter the market you would have missed out on so many gains in that time (SPY from 5 years ago would give you 150% returns, and thats not even from the minimum price within 5 years, just 5YTD)

waiting out of the market is only important if you are ninety years old and have no way to support your income besides stocks/savings in worst case scenario

The name of the game is capital preservation. Using stop losses sensibly can aid in that immensely.

It's difficult to give usable advice on trading because the market is so huge.

Like all social interactions it's also irrational.

Trading is a skill you need to cultivate through experience. You don't have to be insanely smart.

Pattern recognition skills and an even temperament will take you far.

Not everyone is cut out to trade. It's emotional for most people and they don't have the desire or discipline to figure out a plan and stick to it.
