You need to look for people's painpoints, what is lacking from their current position that would make them buy what you're selling.
Get as much info as possible, have the prospect speak 70% of the conversation and only have 30% of the conversation to yourself.
The more I worked in sales the more I realized it was a consultive job more than anything, also if you aren't sold on the product you're selling you won't be able to sell it
