in attempt to clampdown on Bitcoin tax crime

>The IRS plans to interview family and friends, search through social media posts, and issue subpoenas to ensure people pay taxes on their Bitcoin, according to a presentation given to the IRS Criminal Investigation division.
Are you ready to have your friends and family interviewed anon?

>For more difficult to obtain information, the presentation suggests obtaining Grand Jury subpoenas for Apple, Google, Microsoft, bank, credit card, and PayPal records.

Oh please, let them audit me for this. I would welcome them in the front door, let them get nice and comfy on the sofa, offer them something to drink, and then produce for them my trading record which shows that they owe me thousands of dollars! Then I would laugh and laugh, and call them bootlicking Federal Reserve stooges to their face.
The IRS has no right to exist.

If he used solar panels and also donated to baby hospitals, it would be a start. You could even have a trigger that donates a bit of crypto to a children's shelter everytime the IRS searches you up

So how does taxes on crypto really work? So lets assume that it's a short term capital gain, and it's above my current individual income bracket. What do I pay in taxes on the crypto when I attempt to cash out? Everything I've read makes it sound as if it's taxed at the same level of my individual income tax bracket, but the tax calculators that I've attempted to use make it seem as if its taxed in its own individual bracket based on the size of the revenue.
