Bitcoin is internet funny money that has value because people say it has value. Tangible items like gold, or a platform/service like ethereum is superior in every way because they actually provide value by themselves. Bitcoin doesn't do jack shit and fees go to insane heights whenever it gains any traction whatsoever.

It's almost as if the BTC maximalists were onto something all along. That, if you're looking for a hedge against absurdly loose monetary policy from the Fed, the ECB, the BOJ, you might want to hold an asset with a hard capped supply with high (and ever increasing) liquidity. Tell me again how ETH is "superior" at being digital gold?

I'm not saying it's better at being digital gold. I'm saying that Bitcoin's real value is 0 because it is a complete and utter meme. There's no reason to buy bitcoin long-term instead of gold. Bitcoin already has a shady rep among normies and that matters when your coin provides no intrinsic value whatsoever. It's worse than gold because gold is something that tangibly exists and will always have demand. The same is not true of bitcoin, unless you are a retard who thinks governments will freely give up their influence to cryptocurrency. I'll give it 5 years tops until it diseappears into the aether in favor of some other crypto that isn't built on hype but actually provides something.

Also holy shit you realise bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency? You realise as time goes more technologically impressive products push old ones to the way side? Remember 20-40$ fees on bitcoin transactions in 2017. Bitcoin is garbage and the only reason it has value is because you can't buy alts with fiat as easily yet.

You are right anon. Don't listen to these retards. The reason gold is a real store of value is because it is hard to obtain and there's something real there you can do with it besides just holding and tracking value. Btc is near worthless. It is more like a religious relic than actual gold, essentially there were enough retards who bought it that the digital gold meme caught on. I wasn't interested in crypto until eth came along.

>It's almost as if the BTC maximalists were onto something all along
they weren't, literally every prediction from old years turned out to be hilariously wrong.
https://web.archive.org/web/20110811230715/http://astrohacker.com/ahc/bitcoin-is-the-economic-singularity/
what people expected:
- for bitcoin to become a major currency
- for hyperbitcoinization to happen in third world countries
- for taxes to start to become increasingly impossible to collect because of bitcoin
what actually happened:
- a speculative toy for rich people
Which means early adopters lucked out into gains and they had no idea what's going to happen, unless you show me someone that actually predicted that bitcoin is never going to amount to anything more than a tulip and still bought a lot. As they had no actual idea what was going to happen then, they have no idea what's going to happen now, and what's going to happen is that once eth2.0 gets released it destroys everything, including bitcoin else, which won't even be remembered much after the smart contract bubble.

The funniest irony is that this
>Bitcoin is useful for all the same reasons that any currency is useful: it is a medium of exchange. The advantage of being decentralized is that you do not have to rely on a third party for security. Thus, bitcoin is more useful than digital dollars for the same reason that digital dollars are more useful than paper dollars, or paper dollars are more useful than gold: it is just easier to pay people with them. No banks means less headaches, in the same way that no gold means there is a lot less weight you have to lug around. Bitcoin is thus a better answer to a problem humanity has been slowly solving for millenia: how do we remove barriers to payment?
used to be the major narrative and talking about "store of value" would get you laughed at, for viewing it as a ponzi. Today those that still talk about this get called "bcashers" and banned.

yeah let me guess, for some odd fucking reason people are gonna stay with this ancient technology run by chinks because DECENTRALIZATION am i right? So fucking delusional. you aren't right if you predict something is going to happen because of X, and it happens for a completely different reason.
>I'm just glad you're going to live long enough (hopefully) to get to truly witness how wrong you are about Bitcoin
You can't disprove math. Bitcoin is a zero sum game if you include payments to miners, which leak value every instant - until bitcoin dies. Because of that, average buyer in bitcoin is going to lose money, it's a mathematical certainty.
Ethereum is not a zero sum game because of utility that's captured in the form of fees by stakers, which allows everyone to gain, unless it never gets adopted, but that only means some alternative smart contract platform won, bitcoin still loses.
Eventually, an positive sum game must win over a zero sum game, no matter how irrational the market gets temporarily.

>> No.14571140

>Because of that, average buyer in bitcoin is going to lose money, it's a mathematical certainty.

That's odd because over the entire 10-year history of Bitcoin today, literally everyone except those who bought in a narrow 1 month window (if that) at the top of the market have made money, not lost it. I'm pretty damn sure if you give it another 6 months even those top-buying retards will be in profit, the same way the people that bought the 1,100 top in 2013 are now. Maybe we can worry about that problem in 50 years when we've actually mined effectively all the BTC.

>>14570943
You too, I'm going to enjoy knowing that one day time and the market will prove you wrong beyond argument. Kinda like the r/buttcoin faggots who made their sub in 2011 and continue to this day to think they're right that BTC is just a scam and it's going to crash ANY DAY NOW :^)

wrong, you have to sell to make a profit.

People are going to use what ever crypto is more convenient for them, not which has the most value. You have to think about it from a non-investing point of view.

Bitcoin will slowly drop in value as people actually start using coins with more practical uses and those coins will take value away from bitcoin.

BTC has none. It might be closer to a religious artifact in the way it holds value rather than gold.
