brainlet here
i have followed chainlink forever but never
understood the actual use for..say, SWIFT

will SWIFT allow smartcontracts to trigger transactions?
smartcontract executes -> submit to oracles -> trigger off chain SWIFT transaction?
or is it going to be the other way around..
SWIFT transactions can somehow provide data on chain?
anyone can actually explain the flow of this.
like, who creates the node jobs - SWIFT or users?
inb4 dyor

(same questions could go for other big users, Microsoft etc)

The first one. Everyone and everything will need Chainlink decentralized oracles.

how fucking dumb are you? how the fuck have you been following chainlink "forever" but still dont even understand the foundation of it? yes oracles will be used to trigger smart contracts if someone needs that to be done. SWIFT doesnt just provide API info, they can make money off doing so. honestly i was going to type more but i cant fucking believe how fucking dumb you are to ask the most basic question about chainlink and you been following it "forever" WTF WERE YOU FOLLOWING LMAO

>> No.14004480

>>14004409
a real example
SWIFT providing API info for triggering smartcontracts, ok
SWIFT providing API access for triggering transactions (which can come from smartcontracts), ok

so is there no exclusivity between chainlink and SWIFT?

99% of the people behind the pump have no fucking idea what it is. To them LINK is no different than MATIC or FTM. Just another pump and dump on Binance. Until Sergey starts making moves you will have to deal with this reality. Unless Sergey decides to suddenly retire to the Cayman Islands or gets hit by a truck you need to calm the fuck down.

here talking about storing bank data on blockchain, not related to smartcontracts, but still chainlink bridging it correct?

>> No.14005421

It's simple. A transaction in a market is usually a buyer and a seller. There is some sort of good or service delivered in exchange for payment. A contract governs such transaction. So a smart contract needs to verify if the goods or service is delivered, and then it needs to trigger payment. That is inputs and outputs offered by Chainlink. SWIFT is a payment system. It's a messaging standard for bank transfers. So Chainlink allows for smart contracts to trigger a payment when the goods or service has been verified to be delivered. Of course, the contracts that Chainlink will first help govern are not typical goods and services type transactions. They are derivatives, insurance, bonds and other financial services

The way this SWIFT capability is unique to Chainlink is that blockchain networks cannot currently do so. SGX integration with the Town Crier acquisitions allows trusted hardware to hold SWIFT private keys without an oracle node being able to tamper with it. And the way Chainlink is unique when it comes to data inputs, it's mainly the decentralization of data sources and nodes

access to the data directly from banks, how?
not via SWIFT?
where is this unadulterated and verifiable data?

>> No.14005498

>>14005456
The way SWIFT benefits is that they avoid disruption from both fintechs (making it expensive and profiting by owning LINK off of having to allow them to access their APIs following PSD2 regulation) and crypto (allowing traditional fiat systems to benefit from the immutable and tamper-proof execution of blockchain networks, slowing adoption of cryptocurrencies as actual currency)

I am utterly fatigued over the sheer number of newfags. Why are people so incompetent. Life (for intelligent people) is basically hitting your head on the wall or suppressing your irritation over the majority of people’s intellect and working on something on your own.
