I'm a complete newfag to crypto and I started with slowly putting it into only BTC while I researched other crypto. If I had to pay the standard amount of rent where I live and wasn't living at home realistically I would have half of my current LINK stack at about 5-6K or so. I put money into BTC and tried swinging it, started with 1K from my paychecks, then 2K, then 3K etc. If I would have just not been a faggot and held the BTC instead of trying to swing I would have more, let that be a lesson for you NEVER SWING CRYPTO unless it's blatantly obvious it's going to crash.
