here is the most likely scenario for chainlink in the next week

>Sergey drops the blogpost on Tuesday or Wednesday
>mainnet will go live without reputation contract
>also no deposit/withdrawal contract or penalty contract, meaning no staking from day 1
>but node operators will still be able to accept and complete jobs, just no staked LINK involved
>this means high quality users of the network will likely not be announced for a few months pending the completion of these contracts (no penalty = too much risk for blue chip companies)
>however, data providers will be live from day 1
>data providers will include SWIFT and docusign among others (see video here: https://twitter.com/chainlinkmarket/status/1131264893808664576))
>a list of data providers will be specifically mentioned in the blogpost, because sergey is mostly concerned with developers building their dapps with chainlink, not speculative partnerships) this alone will push us from $1 to $4 over the next 4 weeks
>flood gates are now opened, a steady stream of data providers will be announced as they are onboarded
>realistically, we reach $10-15 EOY
>reputation contract, penalty contract, and deposit/withdrawal contract or completed
>literally 10's of millions of LINK will be locked up in nodes
>once SWIFT, microsoft etc are announced as USERS of the network and not just providers (Project Bletchley collaboration is made official, chainlink is integrated into SWIFTs core business model as the oracle of choice, docusign uses LINK to expand their product suite) we hit $200-$500 (probably sometime near the end of 2020)

I can't say the exact numbers. But being a high quality node operator early on will have many benefits.
Its very likely that that 3rd party listing services will implement some notion of reputation, so starting early will get you a head start in the network
Additionally, once the 1st party chainlink reputation contract goes live, they will have a way to back-fill reputation for nodes that have been completing jobs since mainnet launch

Unfortunately, becoming a high quality node operator will take some work in the beginning (unless youre relying on a pooling service, in which case you sacrifice any reputation you would earn from those jobs)

Sure.

>>mainnet will go live without reputation contract
This is not accurate. There will most likely be a basic reputation system at launch.

>>also no deposit/withdrawal contract or penalty contract, meaning no staking from day 1
You're dumb. This is already built and you can fucking see it if you look at GitHub.

>>but node operators will still be able to accept and complete jobs, just no staked LINK involved
Jesus. Learn to read, then view their GitHub.

>>this means high quality users of the network will likely not be announced for a few months pending the completion of these contracts (no penalty = too much risk for blue chip companies)
No...

Yepp!

>>data providers will include SWIFT and docusign among others (see video here: https://twitter.com/chainlinkmarket/status/1131264893808664576))
DocuSign, sure. They already have API offerings, so no shocker.

>>reputation contract, penalty contract, and deposit/withdrawal contract or completed
Already will be. It'd be impossible to launch without some type of reputation system. Just wait and see. ;)

>>literally 10's of millions of LINK will be locked up in nodes
I'm not sure about this... Maybe in four years or so, but who knows how far along data providers will get in four years time.

well first you need to make sure you understand how to run a node: https://docs.chain.link/docs/running-a-chainlink-node

secondly, you need to add external adapters to your chainlink node based on demand, otherwise your node won't even be a candidate for the requesters jobs. You probably won't have to learn how to do this on your own, since popular adapters will be developed quickly and made public, but you have to manually add these to your node as they come (a few have already been developed: https://chainlinkadapters.com/).).

also this is useful:
https://docs.chain.link/docs/external-adapters

the last thing, which will also be the biggest barrier to entry, is having access to private external APIs (you will have to pay for this, most APIs are based on monthly/yearly subscriptions, so you wont be making profit on day 1)

Node operators who do all of these things will see huge payouts (relative to others) when all the key contracts are complete.

>>13858631
because reputation will eventually go live and backfill from all jobs (so the jobs you run on day 1 of mainnet will eventually count towards something). It will be better to have 1 highly respected node than 10 mediocre ones once big players start automating their data requests based on reputation

That's what I thought as well in the beginning, however, thinking about it over the pasts months I came to realise that this makes no sense at all!

I believe those LINKs will be payed out to active node operators at different stages. It will be like a reverse ICO if this makes any sense at all. But only for participants of the network.

In your dreams LINKtard. This project is for Sergey to get rich, the 650 million tokens are in case he needs to dump. Obviously he'll never get away with even half the dump. This project is abandonware. You invested in something that'll never be worth more than $5.

Do you know how many API calls an hour a piece of software can make? Relying on a shitshow of a blockchain like Queefereum is a fatal error.

You are absolutely incorrect.

Thomas directly addresses this in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OS_fg9u21k

"We haven't built one yet" - Thomas

Also ask in the official telegram, reputation has not been built, but once they start building it stories related to reputation will appear on the pivotal tracker, straight from the teams mouth.

Penalty/deposits are also not ready, go to the pivotal tracker and type in in the search bar. The ONLY result is the story: "Design WIP: Add Oracle performance penalties to "ServiceAgreement's" - last updated April 27 2019

Read the story, it is still in the design stages.
