How heavy should a safe be to make pro thieves nope.jpg when they see it?

I’m mainly going to pack it with guns, mom’s jewelry, family photos and some PMs.

>> No.13540516

Use decoy saves.
Also, no safe is 100% secure. Its all about the time burglars need to obtain it. So, if theres a safe that can be lifted and one that can only be broken in a matter of hrs, id just take the easy one, provided I have no intel that the more secure one is worth the gamble

I’m definitely aware of the danger of getting a safe that can be thrown onto a dolly and rolled out the house so I want one that weighs enough when empty to require a couple riggers for moving it inside and afterwards I’m going to pack it full of thousands of rounds of ammo so I hope I should be good on the weight front.

Get something that's 400+lbs. Most can be bolted to the floor.

>> No.13541253

Heavy? It should be bolted to the floor. The right bolts can withstand thousands of lbs of force in concrete, much more than the safe would weigh.

DOESN'T REALLY MATTER HOW GOOD YOUR SAFE IS IF THEY'RE TORTURING YOU FOR THE CODES

I read that as "require a couple niggers". This stupid website has ruined my brain

It'd need to be too heavy for thieves to lift, but if you're gone for a weekend they could still bring in a hand truck and wheel it out.
Like he said >>13540516 you're going to want decoys so they still leave feeling like they got something, but it's actually a small percentage of what you have.

Lolfag. Why does anyone need a safe? The only safe I need is my 45. Burglars can keep the whole mag.

what kind of family photos go in a gun safe OP

>> No.13541793

OP, ex locksmith here, the majority of safes that are 'cracked' a hole is simply drilled in to the side/back of the safe. Then the lock is manipulated from the inside.
So the best is to surround the safe with concrete, floor safes are the most secure, for this reason. Don't think you want a floor safe for guns...
Are criminals going to drill a safe...NO

Family friend had gun safe stolen, literally a 3cx JCB backhoe through the brick wall of the windowless room that the safe was in...
If people want whats in it it can/will be taken.

So would that tear out a decent sized floor safe surrounded in concrete?

Because you never leave your house. You know how easy it would be to take down someone in their house?

This, or if you don't have concrete you can drive a rebar stake deep into the earth.

Also, you could consider getting your hands on a GPS tracking device. In the time it takes for the perps to transport and break in, I'm sure you could triangulate the location and relay to the cops.

Doesn't matter how heavy it is lol. Wait until some thugs put pylons in front of your house after pulling up in a construction truck wearing reflective vests. They'll walk into your house casually and then calmly wheel away your safe. No one in the neighbourhood will think twice.
