13498853 No.13498853 [Reply] [Original]

Bitcoin is the most stable store-of-value in the cryptocosm. This is because only Bitcoin has an inviolable Nash Equilibrium. All the altcoins fall into centralization via politics, because there can only be one longest chain proof-of-work (all others can be attacked due to weaker security level).
Non-PoW so called "solutions" are smoke and mirrors.

Link and pic related. If you're just going by time of one confirmation BTC loses. If you go by speed as a function of hashpower Bitcoin blows everything else out of the water. It is the most secure blockchain on the planet and you are exposing yourself as a newfaggot for arguing against this.
I own Ethereum, because I do use the Ethereum network for a few things. I am not a cultist. Ethereum does what it needs to do. It isn't bitcoin though.

More "secure" no.
Bsv keeps all the things named in the whitepaper, eg. Double hash , BTC doesn't have it and makes it less secure; also it has a miserable 1 MB cap and LN. If you want to remove all the features from the whitepaper please change the name, bsv will win and is the real BITCOIN, and Satoshi is working in it

LMAO reorg is part of the protocol you imbecile. From a user perspective nothing changes ,you are being played. BTC aka blocktreamcoin is voting to reduce the block size to 300kb to finally cripple it. Please desactive your NPC mode and make your research (pic related). Bitcoin is an economic system, it NEEDS to work in real life, right now it doesn't . BSV does.

It's part of the protocol, change it your are not BITCOIN , you are blockstreamcoin.
If a miner isn't fast enough to verify and propagate should NOT be part of the network, It's simple as that, that's why neckbeards that want to run their raspberry pi are fucking idiots, this is a competitive capitalist system, not socialism. Nose that don't mine or do it inneficiently DONT BELONG IN THE NETWORK
Miners that are slow either invest more or go bankrupt, that's it, no one gets to fuck the system beacuse they are weak or whatever. Also double hash allows MORE miners of different kind eg. miners specialized in archiving and searching results and info, other dedicated purely to mine blocks. That's descentralization and specialization.
You don't like it? Go bankrupt with altcoin blockstreamcoin.

Tell me why you think that way. I'd love to hear it. And for the record, I've got a masters in economics. Really chaps my ass that you nitwits come on here and chastise anyone with your vague and dismissive attitude without ever having even argued against the actual philosophy being discussed. Lets hear your 'economic thought' you yellow-bellied shit posting psued. Go right ahead... there is no better place than here and no better time than now. Lemme guess, you like keynes? Or are you some laissez-faire extreme capitalist? Read a few quotes from milton friedman and now you're the expert on money and how to run an economy? Lay it on me pal. I got all day. I'm gonna be here in this thread questioning everything you say... everything you do. Every post you make. Every feeble attempt you try. So you got two choices my man... you either put up or you shut up. Whats it gonna be?

Makes me wonder: how will Bitcoin maximalists react when it becomes obvious that Proof of Stake is a perfectly viable alternative?

I'm truly curious how it will play out. The hard core of true believers will certainly stay on the PoW side. The more pragmatically minded will rally around an alternative implementation. I can foresee another episode of hardfork drama on the horizon. Maybe a separate one for BTC, BCH and even LTC? Or maybe Roger sees an opportunity to claw back some relevance and switches to the PoS camp?

My prediciton: the ecosystem will finally grow tired of all the bitcoin drama and just switch to using some ad-hoc variety of ERC20 stablecoins / store-of-value tokens running on ETH 2.0.

PoW will always win vs PoS, just look at the economy. Ownership works for a while, but ultimately the work you put into something decides long term. Nature intended PoW as selection mechanism for survival everywhere. You dont work = you get weeded out. Excluding here fringe case with turbo rich parents etc.

Widely used PoS systems will come soon enough. Once something like ETH2.0 is up an running, you will need to answer the question: why again are we burning a mid-sized country's worth of energy consumption when this much less wasteful alternative exists and works just as well?

Pragmatism always ins reality. If PoS works in practice, nobody will listen to wishy-washy arguments like "it's unnatural" anymore, they'll just flock to what works.
