The thing you don't realize is that the crypto volume is overwhelmingly fake. So what, tether got outed when everybody already knew it was a ponzi. It literally doesn't matter when 95+% of the volume is from these scammers and they obviously don't care or get scared -- and can still pump it back up through wash trades if some retails do get scared.

Crypto in 2019 is basically fake volume as a bait to naive retail "investors" who want to buy a lottery ticket and who couldn't care or much less understand any of this.

Wow, here's a reply as an award for being the biggest retard in this thread and that's saying something. Where does the EU get its money? Answer, it has none. All banks in the EU have around 1 euro to cover every million euro on their books. No exceptions. How then, when all money disappears in the entire eurozone, is the EU going to tax people to get that 100k per person? They can't pay anyone, there are no banks to pay people with.

In 2008, there was a 16 trillion USD bank bailout. Current day, the ECB prints trillions and buys stocks and other bullshit to prop up the markets. What do you think that does to inflation?

Stupid cunt, you missed the entire underlying point of this situation.

>>13462625
This guy gets it.

There's three major points to take away from this.

>1. Bitfinex' "heart was in the right place". Rather than "this all being a scam", they were actually trying to do the right thing, save their exchange from insolvency, but keep Tether "backed" (by loans).

A true scam exchange would have legged it at this point, rather than trying to actually prop things up, even if it's done a bit dodgy.

>2. Our own currencies are worthless.
This is a real commentary on how our current financial systems work. Yes Tether is now HEAVILY backed by "loans" instead of USD, as they claimed before. However, what is USD backed by? Loans. We all know the gold isn't there anymore, and USD (and other fiat) are just IOU's to banks. Tether isn't doing anything different here than how OUR EXISTING BANKS work.

If anything, this is just proving there's a need for something like Crypto, and even something like Tether, which is inherently fiat, eventually suffers from the exact same problems as our own banks and existing financial systems. There's no getting away from it.

>3. Whoever controls your money, controls you.
Again, another relevant point is that Bitfinex are up shit creek, because OTHERS are holding onto their money. Authorities say "no, you cannot have your money" and therefore have control over them. Bitfinex then have to prop themselves (well, Tether) up with LOANS. How typical is this, Jewish authorities holding onto something is yours, making up whatever bullshit reasons they have, and then forcing you to fuck yourself over with loans instead.

Since Bitfinex are dealing with USD here, they deal with all the problems that traditional fiat has, mainly having no control.

In essence, this situation is bad for TETHER. Not catastrophic, but it does knock confidence, which is why you're seeing what you're seeing.

However this is GOOD for Bitcoin, and other non-fiat

That's not what the "lawsuit" says. They didn't check on Tethers balance yet, only Bitfinex. That's what the "lawsuit" is about, they demand more information, documentation and statements by Bitfinex and now Tether aswell, which both refused to give to the March 8th (I think) deadline and to date - hence the NYAG went to the court to file a petition to force Bitfinex and Tether to hand it over already. ;-)

Because they don‘t understand it. they don‘t know the impact of tether for the hole crypto ecosystem. Most people Are dump. Herr a screenshoot from the Bitfinex shareholders. They said 2018 what will happen if tether fails.

or it could make it moon like crazy? what, you think everyone is going to sell btc because of this?
no, they're going to BUY crypto with their NOW-USELESS TETHER you fucking mongoloid.
having this shit implode is good for the ecosystem. maybe no on the daily chart but on the monthly/yearly.

if you're in tether, it's because you are short term bearish about the market. if you want to preserve your capital, what do you do? You buy other stable coins like TUSD, PAX or USDC. Sure you might buy panic buy BTC at a premium because USDT is shitting the bed and isnt pegged to a dollar anymore. There's no derivative markets that includes USDT exchanges in their mark price so i'm pretty sure it won't make the price go up on the fiat exchanges. 5650 was the top of this pump.

you worthless faggots understand that Tether is not the only Stablecoin? If that shit goes down people will just shift -what they already started- to currencies like USDCoin. It's not so hard to replace that motherfucker. I doubt that, even if it would go down worst-case Lehman style, that it would take down the market significantly or longer than 1-2 weeks. It's not like Bitfinex/Tether owners are total powerless dummys that cannot
do anything.

The main streem meteor got exposed during Trump's ascendance for those non-NPCs who were actually still taking them somewhat seriously.
Now everyone who is not a shill knows msm has literally 0 value for traders.
Other than that, just like USD can be printed to oblivion and still hold value because of worldwide trust, tether is now used by the majority of crypto exchanges and trusted by enough people that this fud doesn't really matter, until someday in the future trust is fully lost. But that will be after the next mania, probably.
