I'm guessing you were margin trading. The first thing you have to realise is that you were gambling. What happens when you gamble? You win or you lose. By your own logic, so is investing. You are essentially betting that a specific asset will go up in price just over a longer timeframe, you are still able to lose all your money though. Margin trading is the same just with a shorter timeframe in mind and higher risk. Investing is trading with a higher timeframe in mind. Both are not gambling though, because if you know price action you know what has to happen in order for an asset to gain price or lose price, just because you don't know doesn't mean other people don't. It's not betting on black or red where nobody knows what the outcome will be, price is drawn to a specific level for a reason it's bouncing of support and getting repelled at resistance for a reason and not because of odds.

Support and resistance and knowing what price has to hold to go higher and what price can't gain to go lower is unironically all you need. No indicators, no elliot waves and other bullshit. For example. Lose support A--> Go to support B.
Gain resistance A--> Go to Resistance B. And then there is Hold support A --> Test resistance A. Fail to gain resistance A--> retest support A. This goes down to the lowest timeframes, obviously the higher the timeframe the more significant the level As soon as i started to look at markets this way i immediately became much more profitable.

It breaks resistance and goes lower to retest what it gained, if it can hold it can continue up if it can't it goes lower.
