It depends on the area and whether or not you're alone.
If you're true off the grid you're paying out like 500 to 1000 annually for the land. That's easy money. If you hunt you have pelts and bones to sell. Mixed with lumber, crafts, specialty services on demand, and small animal raising (think goats and chickens), you'll be taking home more than your average wage cuck.
On top of that you'll be self sufficient.
Now, you get a family. That's more labor which means it's way easier to live. Get another family to split a lot you're laughing your whole life and your children have partners.
That's how good it can be.

Do this during the summer time, while theu're in the house you can either camp/hunt/log futher away on your land, or visit frinds/family.
