depends on your definition of "make it." for me, making it would be saving up enough to buy a small <1k sq ft house outright, no mortgage, and then earning 30k a year minimum in passive income so I can do nothing but be a NEET all day

Making it is 10M these days. Financial independence/early retirement can be had for around 1M if you're cool with a modest lifestyle and no family.

Making it by 30, your best chance is to go to an early phase startup and then when that imploded go to the next one over and over until something makes it to an IPO. Your best chance though is like 1%.

Financial independence by 30 is possible if you can get a job at Google or Facebook and live in a van on the campus. Just shower at the gym and save everything possible for 9 years in some relatively safe investments and you can hit 1M.

Are people larping in these threads? Every time I read these posts people are either tech millionaires with hundreds of thousands of dollars saved up by the time they hit 24 or they have ridiculous goals like "if you don't have xxxK amount of dollar before x age you're fucked" Iam only 19, and have like 10K tops. Be honest, would 10k be enough to make it trading crypto with a part-time job to pay rent/food?

What are you studying in undergrad? No one's saying anything outrageous in this thread btw

What type of answer do you expect to get from a question like this? Yes, you will make it because person believes crypto will go up or No, you won't make it because person believes crypto won't take off. Either take the calculated risk and make your investments or don't, you seem like you just want some reassurance and someone to tell you that you'll make it.

Iam just done with school, turning 20 soon. I have been day trading for about 2 years and I would say I am pretty decent at it.

When someone is saying making it is 10M$ thats like 0.001% of the population. Even having 1M$ seems like a far reach for many.

Maybe I wasn't cut for this life :(

Yea but if someone has similar experience starting out with a low amount that would be motivating for me. (also sorry for hijacking this thread OP)

Undergrad, looking to maybe apply to uni soon. (Not American)
But I rather just trade and not study if it was a possibility..

save as much as you can

Not larping.

Just facts. That money has to last forever. A safe withdrawal rate for early retirement is about 4% of your principal per year (assuming well-diversified investments not hiding your money under a mattress.) So that's only a 40k annual salary if you've save 1M or a 400K annual salary if you've saved 10M.

10M is a good number to make give a decent like that you wouldnt have to work anymore. As long as you dont live like a gay drug addict.

8.5 million after tax
>500k on house
>1 million in retirement portfolio
>5 million invested at 3% annual interest after tax for 150k for life
>1 million in untouchable offshore safety net
>1 Million to do whatever with

You’re set baby. With your house paid off, your car paid off, and zero debt your monthly expenses are less than 1k. You can do whatever whenever and nobody can tell you shit. Life is good.
