they bought into the meme. oracle are somewhat important for smart contracts, but you don't need a rube goldberg machine as complicated as chainlink to get trusted data onto ethereum.

this is what happens when a bunch of late adopters get together, misunderstand why ethereum is important, and go all in on something so they can feel part of a group, regardless of the actual realities of what they've bought into.
